Need some Motivation?
by SB Sarah | September 30, 2007 | Sunday at 3:48 am | 13 CommentsBehold: the prize for the best Banned Book Review for 2007: your choice of the children’s or adult’s Banned Book bracelet. You too can sport a miniature cover of To Kill a Mockingbird or Captain Underpants on your delicate wrist.

So far we have a very few entries (not including mine, which isn’t eligible) so if you’d like a shot, please send your review of one of the top 100 most challenged books from 1990-2000 to me .(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address) asap.

I would so love that bracelet, but I know better than to try for it. I couldn’t write a review to save my life. :/

I don’t think I could either. I am, apparently, a philistine and haven’t read the majority of those books.

Dare I confess to banning “Captain Underpants” from our home? It inspired inappropriate behavior in our boys. Also banned until the teen years were Poke Mon the game and The Little Mermaid, due undesirable behavior.

Must we use the 1990 - 2000 list of books, or may we review any of the ones on the 2007 brochure?

The current list has “DaVinci Code” and “Sex Kittens and Horn Dogs Fall in Love”. Reviewable or not, I may have to read that one.

I sent in a review, but I still want to buy a bracelet or twenty, because those are awesome. Is there is a site to buy those at, or did you guys somehow make them yourselves?

The bracelets are available on the same site as the list - http://www.ala.org/ala/oif/bannedbooksweek/bannedbooksweek.htm
Thinking of buying a couple myself. My daughter would dearly love to wear Captain Underpants on her person…

hi,
asked in 2 places, haven’t heard back - what’s the deadline? i’m assuming it’s to coincide with the end of bookweek.

Oh, I am struck by lust for those bracelets! Book cover art as jewelry? Awesome!
Maya,
I went and looked at the original post, and the deadline seems to be Oct. 6.
Ack, I’ve got to hurry and make time for banned book reviewing! :)
