My Latest Obsession

by Candy | July 05, 2005 | Tuesday at 12:49 am | 25 Comments

In between napping, reading, attending barbecues, cat-wrangling and car-shopping (the turn signals on my New Beetle stopped working last week and it was the LAST FUCKING STRAW this car is almost new and it’s had a fuckton of stupid problems why oh why did I not get a Honda instead of that blasted yuppie whoremobile gaaaaaah so ANYWAY getting a Scion xA which is also yuppie-whorish but far more reliable so yayyyyy) ummmm, whoops, sentence got away from me. Urk. So, at any rate, watched The Boondock Saints for the first time last night and am in the midst of a massive obsession. First of all: the MacManus twins? HOTTTT. Jesus God. One of the deleted scenes on the DVD had the two of them strolling ‘round their apartment nekkid, and I just about fell of the couch. The Very Tall Husband had to put with me babbling about how hot their tattoos were and how I wanted to lick Murph’s neck and back. Yea, he is indeed a patient man, especially since he never gets crushes on fictional characters and therefore cannot remotely comprehend my little obsessions with people who don’t exist in real life (some of them animated, even).

Anyway. Second of all: those two are just CRYING for a good love story.

For the first time ever, I’m actually contemplating hunting out fanfic, but I’ve heard that most of the stories are twincest tales. *weeps, gouges eyes out* Guess I’ll have to make do with what I can come with on my own. I can’t be bothered to actually write down any of it (not necessarily due to any scruples—I can’t be bothered to write down most of the fiction I come up with), but in my head, the two boys are having fun, and woo hoo, so am I. Wait, hang on, just to clarify: I’m having fun coming up with the stories, I mean. I’m not actually in the stories. The thought of inserting myself in any way, shape or form into any fiction I come up with repulses me, and I’m not quite sure why.

Yup, the warm weather and the rigors of car-shopping have basically sapped all the energy from me, and all I can come with for a blog entry is OMG BOONDOCK SAINTS SQUUUUUUEEEEEEEEEEE. Hopefully I’ll get my shit together and post something more interesting tomorrow.

p.s. Happy 4th of July! May all your limbs (and the limbs of your loved ones) remain intact through this exploderrific time of year.

My 18 year old son’s a big fan of “Boondock Saints” and I got around to watching the DVD one night.  It was amazing, and you’re right, the McManus twins are very easy on the eye.  There was talk of a sequel, and we can only hope.

I thought Connor (Sean Patrick Flanery) looked extremely familiar, then I realized he played Young Indiana Jones in the short-lived TV series. I had a wee crush on him back then, too. Sigh.

And Murph (Norman Reedus) looks like Orlando Bloom’s grittier older brother. Rawr.

I followed your links to the website, and now I’m asking myself if I really need another Celtic soundtrack.  The answer is probably going to be “Yes!”

Willem Defoe was also outstanding in a role a lot of men wouldn’t have taken on.

I had a crush on Norman Reedus [the other twin] for years. He has the 1970s retro look down pat. [That and he reminds me of English actor Steven Mackintosh.]  Unfortunately for me he’s married to Helena Christensen. All right for some. *sigh* :>

Holy crap. I gave in to my curiosity, and I’ve just read a bunch fanfic, all of it twincest, and the most disturbing thing is how well-written much of it is.

WHY OH WHY WITH THE TWINCEST?

No more Boondock Saints fanfic for me.

Eeeuuuwww!  I have no problem with slash fanfic, other than not liking fanfic of any flavor, but what’s the attraction of twincest?

Never mind.  I’m sorry I asked.

I like reading het and slash fanfic, but draw the line at twincest, incest or any of the other less savory stuff.  Yuck.

I hear twincest is a common theme in gay porn, and that may be from where it migrated to fanfic. Or I may be talking through my hat; I’m no expert on the anthropology of porn or fanfic.

I bet if you looked in the Pit of Voles (aka ff.net) you’d find lots of awful “MacManus twins [heart] MarySue” tales…

I dare not go, for I would have to scrub my eyes with bleach afterwards.

MacManus twins + Mary Sue would be almost (*almost*) as bad as twincest.

The story I’m having fun with in my head right now involves Connor and a stripper who kind of fell into her career by accident. (Of course she does; don’t they all? ;-))

I’m just glad to see some other poor guy has to put up with a wife who gets adolescent crushes on movie characters. I was watching Gerard Butler in Phantom of the Opera when he wandered through. He asked me if I needed a bib, and I said no, I need you to leave.

This is the second time I’ve heard someone rave about this movie. Guess I better Netflix it…

When I get home tonight, I’ll post some OMG HOT screencaps I took. Seriously, the movie is worth it just for the eye candy and the deleted scene in which Murph and Connor talk to their completely insane mother on the phone—buck-ass naked.

I may have to go lie down and throw some cold water in my face. Wooooooo damn.

Errr…am I the only one who doesn’t get the love here?  Those guys are just creepy ugly.

    *runs out of thread quickly*

Naw, s’allright. I very likely have quirky taste in men, too. E.g., I think Brad Pitt’s face looks like a horse’s ass. HOT body, but if I was somehow forced to make love to him (snerk), I’d have to put a paper bag over his head. I think he’s got severe Butterface syndrome.

  16. Lilith Saintcrow said on 07.05.05 at 08:05 PM • [comment link]

OMG, thank God I’m not the only one who doesn’t get the Pitt obsession. I think he looks like his last name sounds, but other women just seem to go gaga over him. I’m another quirk when it comes to men, I guess. I would rather have Alan Rickman any day. (mmmh. Must go take cold shower…)

  17. Nicole said on 07.05.05 at 08:13 PM • [comment link]

Oh, Brad Pitt is nasty.  And don’t get me started on the skankiness that is Johnny Depp. Ewwwww.  Hmm..I seem to like characters more than actors, though.  As in I’ll like an actor in one movie, but not in lots of others.  Like Viggo in LOTR is hot, but definitely not in his other movies.

  18. Lilith Saintcrow said on 07.05.05 at 08:21 PM • [comment link]

Gonna have to disagree about Johnny Depp; I do not find him skanky at all. And Viggo is definitely hot in my book.

What a good thing there’s a wide array of men for every taste, LOL…

  19. Candy said on 07.05.05 at 09:11 PM • [comment link]

Nooo, Johnny Depp is beyoootiful. OK, his hair is quite terrifyingly greasy sometimes, but what I’d give to have that boy tied down in bed….. Sigh. But I’m with Nicole on the appeals of Viggo. I only like him in Aragorn drag.

  20. Nicole said on 07.05.05 at 10:02 PM • [comment link]

Yup, good thing there’s a wide variety.  But really, I have to close my eyes when Depp comes on the screen.  The man makes my eyes hurt in his sheer nastiness.  lol he’s just so….slimey looking.

Okay, enough Depp bashing.  I think.  I truly do not understand his appeal.

  21. Monica said on 07.06.05 at 12:13 AM • [comment link]

Viggo is hot.  Depp looks kind of gay.  Those twins don’t get any as far as I’m concerned.  But I’m feeling Candy totally on the two brothers at once thing.

  22. Candy said on 07.06.05 at 01:04 AM • [comment link]

    Depp looks kind of gay.

This is true. And I likes me some androgynous girly-men.

Nicole, love the post and run. Thanks for the chuckle.

    ~gah~
What is it with twincest? There are tons of Weasleycest fanfic stories out there too. Poor Fred and George need the love of a good woman.
    No, not woman, women—-yea women.

BTW, If I ever win billions of dollars I plan to rent Alan Rickman for a weekend and make him dress in his Professor Snape costume. Weekend after that, Johnny Depp as Jack Sparrow.

Whoa, I never realized they were nude during that scene! I was drawing when my hubby put on the deleted scenes, so I listened to the conversation without watching.

Figures my husband wouldn’t clue me in. He’s already having trouble dealing with my hobbit obsession. (Maybe it was the comment about how having Frodo wearing pants in Cirith Ungol was not accurate to the book…) ;)
