Harlequin Notables: Win the Entire Collection!
by SB Sarah | November 16, 2009 | Monday at 11:00 am | 15 CommentsWe’ve got a hellabig contest this week, and I’m so excited about it. Flowerpot Press, the folks who produced the Harlequin Notables collection of paper goods with vintage Harlequin covers on them, have provided two amazing prizes. If you are one of the two winners: you get the whole collection.
Yup, you read that right. We have two tote bags (good thing they’re big bags) filled with one of every item in the Harlequin Notables collection. Not only do you get to keep your favorites but think about the potential: this prize would take care of a LOT of gift shopping for this year, wouldn’t it? There’s address books, notebook, matchbook-style notepads, postcards, and journals - one of every item, twenty pieces in all. I’ve seen the hardcover notebook (in the hands of Harlequin CEO Donna Hayes, and don’t think I didn’t ponder grabbing it and running, trust me!) and I have one of the matchbook notepads - these are awesome fun to have. Anything that is as awesome as “The Widow Gay” or “Virgin With Butterflies” is bound to inspire creativity, right? If you win, you get a mountain of papergoods - and if you’re like me, that sets your pulse rate a little higher. I love me some paper goods.
To enter, email SarahATsmartbitchestrashybooksDOTcom with a title makeover. Take the title of any romance novel and redo the title, vintage Harlequin style. The Playboy Sheikh’s Virgin Stable-Girl? Could be “Pardon My Lizard.” The Flame and the Flower (and many other old skool romances)? “Thank you for raping me.” Silver Angel? “The Playboy Sheikh’s Virgin Harem Girl.”
- Entries are due midnight EST, Thursday 19 November 2009.
- Email your entry - DO NOT POST in the COMMENTS - to me with “NOTABLE TITLE” in the subject line at sarahAT smartbitchestrashybooksDOTcom. Subject line: NOTABLE.
- Contest is open to international entries, and if you win, unless you live on the space station, we’ll send you the big bag o’ awesome prizes.
- ONE entry per person, please.
- There are two prizes, both the same; ergo there will be two winners. Voting will begin on Friday 20 November, and winners will be announced Sunday 22 November.
Any questions? Let me know - and may the best title win.

I just rattled off the first thing that popped out - if I tried to actually think of something it would take awhile, and then I’d get distracted and forget to enter all together!
Love the contest, though gift giving for me would be like: “And 1 for my mom, and 1 for me, and 1 for my sister and 1 for me, and 1 for my friend Andrea, and 1 for me….” hey, 10 people would be gettin’ something! er…11, if count me ;)

Let’s see…. We could re-title THE PLAYBOY SHEIKH’S VIRGIN STABLE-GIRL as:
THE LIZARD KING
and we could feature the uber-sexy Jim Morrison on the cover,
Geddit?!
Best,
Sharon

Well I sent you an email with a title change but I had to try twice because I left the s off of books in the address. Hope it got there this time.

Sorry; I am clearly braindead this evening….
So, the format of the contest is to take a romance novel, the title of which is NOT in the traditional, vintage Harlequin style, and then turn it into a title in the more well-known style, OR take a romance novel where the title _is_ in that format, and turn it into… well, something else?
To make up some examples:
“The Exotic Rich Guy’s Clueless Subordinate”—> “Flaming File Cabinets of Passion”
while
“Deceptive Hearts”—> “The Selfish Secretary’s Virgin Boss”
?

Hi Sarah,
Sorry, I got your address and then wham-o sent my e-mail. I came back later (as in hours) and THEN saw all the rest of the instructions. I didn’t have Notable on the subject line, I sent 3 or 4 on my one e-mail (at least I didn’t bombard you with one per thought). I humbly apologize.

Fun contest. And funny to see a post by a Natalie T - that is my one year old yesterday granddaughter’s name. And I know that is not her. LOL. Natalie is becoming a popular name. I love it of course.
Have a great day everyone.

And OH GOOD GRAVY am I having a hard time just sending in one entry!!!!
I’ve got a whole list in my head. Now I’ve got to figure out which one would actually be funny to other people. I have a weird sense of humor…

OOOPS - I’ll have to join Natalie is saying I need to learn to read things closer and pay more atttention. I just noticed the dates to send entries is later this week. I have to admit I am retired and while I know what day of the week it is, unless I have an important appointment I don’t pay any attention to what date it is!!!!!! ME BAD….
