I read it in the early 80s (pre-1985).  Stepmother was the standard evil woman married to a rich old man. 

It was a bit of a saga—it includes the heroine having children and a fairly long separation between hero and heroine.

Don’t know this one, but has anyone read a contemporary (mid 90s maybe?) about a woman involved with a professional football team who is the kicker (or maybe she just helps to coach the kicker?) and who has a cap with an acronym on it that the hero keeps trying to guess the meaning of?  It’s one that I can’t remember and has been bugging me for years!

Sounds like something that was written for your bi-centennial.

Now, anybody know who wrote the Vampire PI set in Los Angeles book that goes looking for who murdered a porn star?  He became a vamp after serving in Iraq.

It is IMPULSIVE by Catherine Hart.
Freelance journalist Jessica Myers accidentally meets the NFL’s Columbus Knights’ quarterback, Tyler James, when he rescues her from an embarrassing predicament. Ty is furious when word comes down that he must pretend to be this outspoken woman’s boyfriend in order for her to get close to the other players. Now, in close quarters, the inescapable attraction between the feisty reporter and the ultimate player is too hot to ignore. I LOVED that book.

Karen, I really liked Impulsive too! I thought the hero was just a little too multi-faceted (if that’s possible…), but I loved her and her hat!

Kaetrin, the revelation of the acronym would be something of a spoiler. Far be it from me to deprive you of the joy of finding it out by reading the book!

I was really hoping somebody had the answer to this one. I read this book, too, and I would love to know what it was (I, too, read it sneakily).

Did KS stump the collective knowledge of the Bitchery? When was the last time that happened? And does she get a title for that?
