This request comes from K, who read this book a long time ago - but it sounds fascinating!
I read a historical romance somewhere between the late 1970’s or and mid
1980’s.It was set in Australia as it was being founded as a penal colony. Of course
the usual theme, she hates him but is attracted to him.It was really interesting because it incorporated a lot of early Australian
history into the romance, and in the end the hero names the town Adelaide
after her.Does this sound familiar to anyone? Does anyone remember the name or author?
I would love to find this book.

The heroine of Blaze of Passion by Stephanie Blake is named Adelaide, but the plot description sounds like it doesn’t limit itself to Australia. http://girrlitsbooks.com.au/stephanie-blake-blaze-of-passion/prod_4223.html
Was this before or after she married William IV?

Not the book you’re looking for, but Candace Proctor (CS Harris) has several books set in early Australia.

Morgan’s Run by Colleen McCullough?
The plot matches. Not sure about the Adelaide part, though.

No Adelaide and far too recent, but Paula Marshall wrote a Harlequin Historical called Hester Waring’s Marriage, which which starts out as described and involved an ex-convict and the daughter of a colony founder.

Looks like you’ve already got the right book, but here’s another Aussie history rec: a different Paula Marshall called “An Unconventional Heiress.”
Blurb:
“Society heiress Sarah Langley came to Australia to get away from her stifling English home. But she didn’t expect to mix with transported criminals like the duplicitous Tom Dilhorne and the infuriating, intense Alan Kerr.
An unjustly disgraced doctor, Alan Kerr spent all his energy helping Sydney’s poor. He had no time to waste on silly society women like Sarah Langley. But his feelings changed when he learned more about the caring beauty. And from their unlikely friendship, a forbidden passion started to grow….”
