Guess That Lonely Heart

You know the drill: first correct commenter with el character name, el title, y el author’s name wins you La Smarte Bitche Title!

Ardent and talented woman with aesthetic profession seeks strong, urbane gentleman to sweep me off my feet while sweeping my career to new heights. Must be willing to put up with my white-hot attitude and delicate heart, because between my surface of shards and my molten core is a woman ready for some red-hot lovin’. Men unable to see past my hardened exterior can blow me.

Do I actually have to have read the book in question to be able to guess?

Of course not. If you know the title, author and heroine name, feel free to guess.

Okay, I’m sure I’m wrong but here goes:

Barbara Taylor Bradford’s “A Secret Affair” (they made it into a movie, after all).  The heroine’s name was Vanessa something or other.

    Sorry, Robin. That’s not it.

Oh, I wish I could enjoy Nora Roberts!  Instead I’m watching crappy movies on cable featuring glass designer heroines played by tv has-beens.

I’ll be honest with you, Robin, even though I used to be a mouth-breathing troglodyte with the Nora Roberts autobuying, this one was really quite good. I generally like the first of her trilogies the best, much like the first bite of an apple tastes the best.

Jay should donate the title to me.  sez I

You know, I’ve read this book, but I’m not sure I would have gotten it from this clue. Huh.

Okay, Sarah, can you give me your top Nora Roberts picks?  I’d be willing to give a couple more books of hers a try—I mean, after all, she did write like 150 of them!
