The only thing I can think of with the sweater clue is Bridget Jones in Bridget Jones’s Diary by Helen Fielding.

Actually, I think this is a trick question. It’s more likely Bridget Jones from Bridget Jones : The Edge of Reason by Helen Fielding. That’s the one she goes on holiday for and needs to be rescued from a Thai prison…
