Australian reader Elizabeth sent me a link to this video. Consider yourself warned: you must have tissues handy, because it will make you cry.

From Elizabeth’s email: “This evening I was feeling a bit low, and was mucking around on the internet ( as you do) when I found the most amazingly sad and romantic video made by an Australian man suffering from cancer as a birthday present for his wife. It is sad and funny and romantic, so I thought I would send it in.”

Oh my God. I only just got to watch the Annie and Danny video (I have trouble buffering Vimeo). That was so beautiful. I cried my eyes out. It seems so unfair that such as disease can destroy so many lives still. Thank you so much for sharing these.

When you said I would need a tissue, you didn’t say to bring the box!! Danny & Annie’s story made my eyes leak buckets!! What lucky couples Danny & Annie and Chris & Rachel are to have found such love and devotion from their True Loves!

Now I’m gonna call my sweetie at work and let him know how much I love him!!

I’m still teary-eyed. I got through the first video without crying and then just wept at the second. Both of these videos are so sweet and sad and beautiful. I am without words.

Like Tina, I was all proud of myself for making it through the first one — it was cute and touching, but it wasn’t a tearjerker. But Jesus, you’d have to have a heart of stone not to cry through Danny and Annie. Beautiful. That is the kind of love everyone dreams of having. “I walked in with you alone and I’ll walk out with you alone.” What a great line.

All you had to do was say the words “cancer” and “love” in the same sentence and I started to cry. I watched my beloved father slowly and painfully die of cancer. Fuck you cancer!

made it through the first one okay, cried during the second one, it was just so sweet and wonderful and sad all together and I’m usually not a crier at these types of things

Danny and Annie really did me in. There was one person in my life from whom I wanted that kind of love. I gave it but he didn’t want it. We divorced. He’s on his fifth wife.

I started writing about that kind of love to give it to fictional characters. . .

It’s nice to know that it’s real.

Had problems with the Vimeo for Danny & Annie so I’ll try one of the other computers around. But in the meantime wanted to say how lovely I thought the first video was. Thoughts and prayers go out to Kristian, and kudos to Hugh Jackman and the Australian PM for appearing in his video for Rachel. One question: what is the song that is playing in the background?

I, too, made it through the first one only to get hiccup-y, nose-runny tears streaming down my face during Danny’s and Annie’s video.

You know, sometimes I push my fella to be more “romantic” and even got exasperated by him just being able to say “I love you.” But then Danny said, oh, what did he say? something about wearing the words out. And I used to feel that way up to about a minute and a half ago, but it was the way he said it that made me realize it’s actually a good thing. A testament to how strong those words are. Danny . . . thank you for teaching me something about love.

I saw Chris’ video on a morning TV show when I was in Australia last week, enjoying a vacation with my husband of 34 years. It made me cry then, and again now.
