Friday Videos Love the City Hall of Love
by SB Sarah | by SB Sarah | December 14, 2012 | Friday at 1:05 am | 19 CommentsTina C. sent me this video, and all six minutes made me happy snifflecry. This is the first day of gay marriage in Seattle, Washington. 138 couples got married. Then, hundreds of people greeted them outside City Hall, cheering for them.
Link!
The first couple hadn't come down the stairs all the way and I was already crying. Buzzfeed had two collections of photos that were beautiful: 60 moments and 18 declarations of love.
This is one of the reasons I read romance: I get to witness love and the reassurance that it exists everywhere.
I hope your weekend is filled with celebration for all the people you love.

I was OK until it got to the elderly couple helping each other down the stairs. Then the waterworks began. Thanks for sharing a lovely moment in history.

So wonderful. Tears started with the first couple and were pouring before the second couple made it down the stairs. LOVE LOVE LOVE it!

We were there! It is one of the most wonderful days of my life. I suggested to one of Mayor McGinn’s staff members that perhaps, there should be weddings every weekend in Seattle. In the meantime, these couples deserve all joy, now and always.

After being awakened at 2:30 am with someone’s very bad news (it’s what I do for a living), this was a perfect start to the morning. Stole it for my FB wall. Thanks.

Some friends were one of those 138 couples. (They’re 20/21/22 in the “60 moments”.) Apparently while they weren’t the first to get married, they were somehow the first to come outside and down the stairs. I can’t imagine what it must be like to finally have such a key part of one’s life recognised, let alone celebrated loudly by strangers.

My daughter, the kamikaze flower girl, and I were there cheering with Julie in Duvall! What a great day for love. (None of us in the video though b/c it was shot after we left - truly, weddings went on ALL DAY.) Couples came out on an upstairs balcony and waved, then got married and came down the steps. Like royalty! Didn’t realize we’d missed a rainbow ukulele singing group.

FYI I made it through the video, but even the second time “18 Declarations” is a doozie. The guy who made those should write romances!

So very sweet! Much happiness to all the newlyweds. Love should be celebrated everywhere it flourishes.
