Friday Videos Like Miracles
by SB Sarah | by SB Sarah | December 16, 2011 | Friday at 12:03 am | 9 CommentsVia Darlene Marshall comes this year's Maccabeats video. You might remember last year's awesome song, which went bonanza viral. This year the song is beautiful, and is paired with an effort to raise money and awareness of the need for bone marrow registry donors.
Link! This song was originally recorded by Matisyahu. I am telling you, the Maccabeats are getting some use out of those toga costumes.
This year, the Maccabeats are raising awareness and funds for the Judy Greenberg Memorial Miracle Match fund which will help process buccal cell sample donations for bone marrow matching. The video also features Mayim Bialik, better known as 'Blossom,' who is credited as "Actress, Mom, and Neuroscientist" which is just all kinds of awesome.
Hanukkah starts Wednesday night next week, and then Christmas and New Years. May your holiday, whichever you celebrate, be healthy and full of miracles.

Sarah, that is amazing. My kids insist on listening to “Candlelight” all the time and they just saw this and already love it too. Mayim Bialik is also one of the founders of Kveller.com, and I love that she’s so involved in getting parents and kids together to celebrate that she is even in this video! But anyway, thanks for the link!

I love this video, too. My kids wanted to listen to it over and over last night, which totally didn’t bother me. We were all rocking out.

Thanks for sharing this, Sarah. The Maccabeats are all kind of awesome, as is Matisyahu.
Enjoy the holiday, and may your dreidel always land on gimmel (Winner takes all).

Great video! And re Mayim Bialik, not only does she have her doctorate in neuroscience, but she home schools her kids and feels lucky to have a role on The Big Bang Theory. I caught a radio interview she did recently, and she is one cool chick.

Much aural love! All 3 kiddos were grooving out (baby style) to the songs. I tried explaining what Hannukah was and then what religion was and both the 1 year old and 2 year old just looked at me funny, shoved their hands in the air and did baby dances. I think that covers all the reasons for any season.
Is it bad I used my child’s gummy vitamins in our advent calendar instead of candy?

My kids are going to flip over this. The hubby and I joined the bone marrow registry four years ago. I urge people to do it; a friend was recently called and he helped save a life.
I’d have to say: better known as the absolutely awesome Amy Farrah Fowler, Sheldon’s perfect foil on BBT!

I enjoyed the vid and will share it with my daughter when she gets home for the holidays. She was a match and gave cells a few years ago. A morning spent in a hospital let her save a life, and she’s been working to sign up more donors ever since.

That is amazing, Elizabeth. I’m organizing a bone marrow registry drive at RT 2012 in Chicago. I think it would be amazing to be able to save someone’s life.
