This was a brilliant sketch, but what’s even more wonderful is that it’s a tribute to Ronnie Corbett’s late partner in comedy, Ronnie Barker, who made word play sketches into a thing of beauty and a joy forever. The sketch is riffing off the setting for the justly famous ‘Four Candles’ skit:

Ronnie Barker was a genius, and with Ronnie Corbett, created some of the most hilarious and clever entertainment of all time. Enfield is also a gifted and versatile writer-actor-comedian but no one holds a candle - or four - to Barker.

Oh thanks for that link Ann! My husband and I stlll quote that sketch at each other 20 odd years after it aired. I agree about Ronnie Barker, a comic genius. :)
