Yep, I read it all the way through. I have to ask, though…what was that lovely thing in the background on the left? A harp? Whatever it is, it’s beautiful. (I read fast so I had lots of time to look around!)

When asked why read Shiver I say becasue werewolves are the new vampires.  So glad Stiefvater has set me straight.  I love this!  Excellent!!

That was excellent. I have never read her work but I’m off to google her. If she is half as imaginative in her writting as she was for her marketing, she is worth picking up!

What an INNOVATIVE marketing technique. I’m going to HAVE to find her books now, and read them.

First, this trailer reminded my that I bought Sense and Sensibility and Sea Monsters—must actually read it at some point.  The trailer for that was pretty good too.

Next, this trailer made me want to meet Maggie Stiefvater and buy her a drink.  Or several, because she has a fabulous sense of humor!

Finally, this trailer made me want to go to her web site and check out her books. Which I am doing right after this comment.  So yeah, it worked.

Best part for me was the manual close ups. imPOSSIBLE LOve. Hilarious. Also, yes, yes it is and Whatever.

Glad everyone else here appreciated this as much as I did. I thought it was clever and inventive and really funny - she’s bound to get new readers from it.

“Kraken are the new vampires”?  Hmm.  It gets my attention, although I’m still more of a “werewolves are the new vampires” girl.  I’ve read one book by Stiefvater and wasn’t hugely excited by it, but I’d be willing to try something else by her.  I should see about getting another one of her books through ILL.

Bwa!  That was fabulous!  And I’m pretty sure that was a harp in the background, which makes me all envious of her creative abilities.  You know, assuming she can play it.

Lament: The Faerie Queen’s Deception by Steifvater was absolutely amazing, and one of the best books I’ve read so far this year. Shiver was also good, but didn’t exactly blow my mind. Interesting twist to the werewolf concept, though.

Loved the video, such a fun way to get people interested in your books. Need to order Ballad once I get paid, since it’s in paperback now.

The little werewolf animation where he straightens his tie is adorable. And the ad was clever enough for me to put Shiver on my wishlist. (I’m still a werewolf girl at heart, no matter how charming the kraken might be.)

Oh yeah, this campaign worked for me, I saw one of her books in Waterstones today and immediately bought it!

Yep, Maggie Steifvater’s books went in my bookbag today.  I’m sold by simple notecards and faerie toast.  Well, and Kraken romance…who can resist?  Bizarro in a good way.

I tend to prefer books starring boring old humans, but I did very nearly wet myself during the flute solo, and that must count for something.

Yep, definitely makes me want to read her books. Though I’m a little disappointed about the squid. *Sigh* It could have only ended badly (and with calamari).

Oh man, I actually read something recently with a were-Kraken in it, but I can’t remember the title! Um, it was YA, and vaguely steampunkish (obscure and dangerous device hidden is mouldering Victorian hotel on a cliff, hapless orphan boy sent to work there, crocodiles)... anybody?

Funny; I was just going to recommend Shiver for a read/review.  It’s really gorgeously written and everything that paranormal YA should be: sexy, intriguing, well written and thoughtful, and the best part? chapters switch POV from him to her so it’s not all Bella-esque swooning over the HIM of the book.

And the sequel, to come in August 2010, is even better.

Definitely just requested Shiver and Lament from my local library.

That was fantastic marketing and I’m so excited that it was such a simple campaign. Marketers, it seems, are falling all over themselves to do all kinds of new and crazy things, but a sample of her humor is all that it’ll really take to bring me in!

She’s apparently never read any hentai (do a Wikipedia search on the word for a fun “tentacle love” Japanese woodblock print.
