That was totally just me and my dog. Except instead of trying to sleep, I’m watching the video and she’s being quiet but very insistent that I touch the ball she has in her mouth. Of course instead of swatting her away I grabbed the ball and threw it into the yard. It’s 1am and I’m trying to wind down from work. She’s all excited that I’m home and that we’re outside.
Ways39…. She has way more than 39 ways of preventing my sleep.

I love how the cat is annoyed but still not trying to do actual damage. That dove has no fear.

Wow, what an annoying bird. I’m amazed the cat didn’t have feathers sticking out of his mouth by the end - like Sylvester.
The video made my dog bark. Apparently he could sense the cat.
Now I want to replay it to figure out what all the talking was about in the background.

My favorite part of this, the cat opening its eyes to slits, looking at the person taking the video. I imagine it saying, “And why aren’t you doing something the &^%$ about this?!?”

This is why Birds and Cats will never be friends.

Between my cat and dog that bird would not have lasted five seconds. haha
There is no doubt in my mind that the cat is going to kick its owners ass for not taking the bird away. Nobody messes with the catnap!

I think what we’re observing here is a phenomenon known as The Grey Tabby Syndrome. From my experience they are good natured to a scary extent and will put up with just about anything.

Wow. I kept waiting for the cat to take a fatal swipe at the bird. I know, in his place, I would have.

It’s ok, kitty. Not a jury in the world would convict you if you fried up that dove before taking your nap.

@Natalie Arloa, I quite agree with you - that look was unmistakable!
And if I were that kitty, the bird would have been dinner!

Cute. Poor kitty.
My dog totally freaked when I watched this. He started growling at the computer, so I made the video larger so he could see which is when he started barking. Not sure if he was team bird or team cat.

That is an AMAZING cat!
Totally team kitty here! I would have killed the bird. It was awesome to see the cat put the bird’s head in its mouth and not bite it off.

This is what I imagine having children would be like. Hence, my decision to not have any. Totally awesome cat, though.

Wow, I knew doves made that CooooCoooooCoooooo noise but I had no idea they made that even MORE annoying Kweet-HehHehHehHeh noise. Plus ear pecking! Poor cat!

Yes, DreadPirateRachel, that was me this morning, with my 5 year old, “smoothing” my hair away from my face and softly, almost lovingly whispering, “Mommy….Mommy…”
As soon as I opened my eyes to mere slits, she shouted, “Mommy! I’m HUNGRY!”
Growling didn’t work for me either.
But…this is also the same child who defended me from an angry crossing guard who had chased us down the street to lecture me (we had jaywalked: heavy groceries, carrying the tired kid, crosswalk way out of the way), “Don’t you talk to my Mommy that way! She’s the BEST!”

I had a dove like that. He would sit on the handle of the vacuum while i was cleaning up the seed and groom my cat too.Misty never bothered to even swat at MS [mad scientist] either they were both brave or really stupid.

I’m just amazed by how trusting that bird is. They must have one of those unlikely cross species friendships.

I want to know:
1. Why is that bird giving that cat a sexual display?
2. Why is the bird not cat food?
3. What kind of dove is that thing?
Pigeons, on the whole, are very very annoying birds. That tabby either has the patience of Job or is the laziest animal in Christendom!

@Natalie Arloa, that was my thought, too, LOL.
All I can say is, that bird should count its blessings. If that cat had been my Jack Russell, things would have ended very differently and very, very badly for Mr. Tweety Bird.

@Ann Sommerville
As to questions 1 & 2, I don’t know the answer, but I’m pretty sure it’s a collared dove. And a pretty annoying one at that - I would totally have bitten its head off!

Remember the Cat vs. Printer video several weeks ago? The same guy did a voiceover for this video that is equally funny.
And, DreadPirateRachel, I happen to adore my two kids, but yes, this video is *exactly* what life is like with children. “Mom, mom, mom, mom, mom, mom, mom!”
