Lynz sent me this link, and said, “I was channel-surfing the other day and paused when I saw a shot of an attractive man taking his shirt off – wow, that's a really awkward first sentence, I should start thinking more before I write. Anyway, my attention was thoroughly caught and I stopped to watch the video. Seconds later, what did I see but a Harlequin Suspense being used as a fan? I was thinking the video was really cute, until I hit the 2:20 mark, at which point I realized that it was the Best. Music video. Ever. Once I stopped laughing at the ending, I realized that other romance readers might get a kick out of it. Which made me think of you! “
Lynz is right – I thought this was adorable. And someone involved in the making of this video really likes romance novels.
Link!
Cool thing I learned: the video was produced with the help of MuchFACT, which is a Canadian fund that helps Canadian musicians produce music videos. Interesting fact: “Many of Canada's most influential recording artists received VideoFACT funding for their early recordings, including Sam Roberts, K-os, Céline Dion, k.d. lang, Matthew Good, The Pursuit of Happiness, Bran Van 3000, Lara Fabian, Blue Rodeo,Rascalz, Sloan, Jean Leloup, Great Big Sea, Sarah McLachlan, Death From Above 1979, Dubmatique, Aspektz and Ashley MacIsaac among others.” Canada, you are so freaking cool sometimes I don't know what to do with myself.
I hope you have a weekend full of books so great you have to wash the car and fan yourself a lot.
What a great way to start my friday. Thanks for sharing that.
Adorbs! Thanks for sharing the smiles.
So funny. Didnt expect the ending, thanks for sharing.
am i the only one to think that 2:20 was missing a fan to blow all that hair back?
SNORT!! That was so funny, I nearly ripped my own bodice.
Too cute! Great video choice 🙂
Loved it! So adorable.
OMG so funny. The ending made me snort coffee all over my keyboard.
I didn’t see that coming!
Loved it!!
That was so awesome! Man, I love Carly Rae Jepsen. Remember when she was on Canadian Idol and she did that Bond girl/trenchcoat thing?
Or am I the only one who was still watching Canadian Idol by the fifth season…
BEST MUSIC VIDEO EVER!
Very cute!
That ending was awesomesauce. The look on that guy’s face – ha!
Hah! In fairness, the whole “love at first sight” idea is utterly superficial: “He/she is so handsome/beautoful, they *must* be wonderful on the inside too!” Fortunately, mamy romance novels only reach their HEA when the characters learn, and learn to appreciate, that it’s what’s on the inside that counts. (KInda bathetic for an analysis of a music video, but still..)
This is marvelous—and I agree, there should have been a wind machine.
I wonder what that poem is on his side . . . no cougarish reasons, just curiosity.
I admit… I laughed when she fell off the car. However, I hate you for showing me this because my 18 month old keeps wanting to dance to it. So now I’ve listened to this video at least 20 times in a row. It’s a good song but it’s not THAT good.
What an adorable video! And I agree, MuchFACT IS awesome; what a neat fund.
Too funny! I’d never heard of MuchFACT. Thanks for sharing.
That was fantastic and I adored the end. Thanks for sharing.
Words can not express! Just let me say that I just spent 45 minutes (normally 20) getting from satellite to main office because it’s coming down an inch an hour in the Chicago suburbs, and I have to be here for at least an hour before what looks to be a 60 minute (normally 15) ride home and this? This just put the biggest smile on my face. THANKS!!
*GIGGLESNORT* That is too funny! But I wish you’d posted a Liquids Alert(tm)! 😉
She does a nice “Sunshine on my shoulders” too, but I have not seen a video for that. Its the song we use in the morning to make Mommy stop screaming at two toddlers to hurry up before they are late for preschool. Maybe you know what I mean. Thanks SBTB!
LOL, thanks for sharing. I haven’t watched Much/music videos in general in eons, because I can’t stand the vjs these days.
“I hope you have a weekend full of books so great you have to wash the car and fan yourself a lot.” <—Best blessing ever!
That was aweome! Loved it.
Thank you for sharing!! LOVED!!!
So, besides single payer medical insurance and Banff, the Canadians also have MuchFACT? Why oh why didn’t my grandparents emigrate to Toronto instead of New York?
This is so much fun!
Back in the day, MUCHfact was known as VideoFact, and most Canadian acts’ first videos were VideoFact productions because they had no money to put out videos. I was the only one of my friends to have Pay TV which included Muchmusic, 1984 began my addiction. Ah, the good old days. I’ve purged the video addiction and replaced it with romance novels.
By the way, Matthew Good = best Canadian musician EVAH! Check him out on youtube.
I really liked the video. Up until the look on the guitarist’s face. I wish they’d just have had him smile back at the hot guy, instead of looking so weirded out.
My interpretation (which could be wrong but go with me for a minute) was that the guitarist looked so stunned because he knew his girl friend liked the guy—had pushed her outside to wash her car—and no one had thought about the fact that hot guy might play for the other team.
I really enjoyed the video and since I love bubblegum pop I also liked the song. Thanks SB Sarah!
The whole video I was wondering why that boy didn’t do it for me – thinking am I just too old?
So much more flattering to the self-concept to think he pinged the ol’ gaydar on the subconscious level.
Of course he may not be gay in real life, so back to that first thought.
Worth watching all the way to the end!
Made me laugh so hard! Here’s a link where people in Germany can watch the video: http://www.dailymotion.com/vid… (unfortunately, because of the stupid copyright regulations here, the youtube video doesn’t work for viewers in Germany)
LOVE IT!!! Especially since the book the girl fans herself with is mine. (Dana Marton, STRANDED WITH THE PRINCE, Harlequin Intrigue) I had no idea until a friend sent a link. 🙂
I’ve watched this video approximately a million times now. My boyfriend keeps laughing at me dancing in my chair. It’s so catchy!
Best video EVER!
I, too, want to know what the words are inked onto his side. That was hysterical and I laughed so much.
Hilarious! Now that song is stuck in my head, though.
