the video is from my old university, and I recognise almost everyone in the film, most of them work at the university library, so I am really impressed with what they can do!

Wow. That IS impressive. I thought it must have been done by pros. Librarians ftw!

And the Eurovision song was written by Americans, so hurrah for the melting pot and international co-operation and one great big European family of song. All I personally care about is that we win the first round of the World Cup, because it’s just like us to EITHER get right into the finals OR get thrown out by Australia. Nothing in between.

I’m Swedish, but my “weegie” friends tell me that (like a lot of places in Scandinavia) a lot of the profanity is religiously related, (faen is the devil) and the further north you go the better variety/worse/more colorful you find!

My friend texted me some of her personal favorites:

utpult sjarkhora, which the internet tells me means “over-copulated small fishingboat prostitute”

kuk, “penis”

hæstkuk, “horse’s penis”

drittsekk, “bag of shit”

The Swedish ones I can think of off the top of my head are kind of “the basics:” fan (kind of like fuck), jävlar (damn), helvete (hell) and skit (shit). But in Sweden, at least, the young people are usually rather fluent in English and, thusly, English profanity.
