What a touching example of parental love. He choses his daughter. Love it!

That should be “...chooses his daughter.” Two o’s. Like the two f’s in coffee. Yeah.

Well, shit. That did make me cry. I wish we could hear more stories like this, instead of the horror shows that so frequently follow somebody’s coming out. I wonder sometimes, if things had worked out with my first love, would my parents have supported me? Would they have loved and welcomed Amanda as they do Andy? I truly don’t know. They are religious, and so I never told them that I’m bisexual because I was afraid they would reject me. But the thing is, you never know unless you try. It’s like Schrodinger’s cat, only with parents. In the end, because I did end up married very happily to a man, it never really became an issue for me. But I still wonder. I like to think that they would.

How would it look, to women getting married? It looks like two people in love. That’s all that matters.

Well, that one got me.

Darn it, I’m crying too, but I’m supposed to be getting people breakfast and soccer uniforms. Do you know how hard I cried when the NY Times did the slideshow and articles about people who married the first day in that state? The one I remember most is the two old men, one on an IV in a nursing home, who still remembered the song playing on the jukebox the night they met.
If you live in Washington State or Maine, you have the opportunity to make this come true for thousands of people in a couple weeks. Love AND marriage. (Sorry, Sarah, if that’s a little too much of a shoutout for votes ... but you did post it!)

And now I am crying. What a moving piece. That touched me as a parent, as a daughter, and as an ally.

How beautiful! I cried, too. Such love and happiness and support is what we need. It’s about supporting love, supporting family.
