Friday Videos Also Love Science Fiction
by SB Sarah | by SB Sarah | July 25, 2008 | Friday at 3:59 pm | 6 CommentsRobert J. Sawyer gave a marvelous ranting talk at the University of Waterloo about science fiction, it’s origins, and what it meant in terms of social relevance. Evan Steacy set them to visual images, and the three part narration is fascinating, particularly the part about Shelley’s Frankenstein.
All you science fiction romance fans, enjoy.

Interesting! And I’m abashed that I’d never noticed the obvious “the droids are slaves” component before this. I’d always thought it sucked that they didn’t get the credit they deserved, but the slave angle passed me by.
Between puppies and SF geekiness, my morning is much more satisfactory after having visited this site. Thanks, as usual!

Must listen to this! I LOVE sci-fi—and have been bitching about it being socially relevant for most of my life!

I will need to sit and listen/watch when I don’t have the tv on, they aren’t sitting and yaking and I can actually watch it.
amy lane- the local sci-fi convention here, Albicon, is in October. Anne McCaffrey and her son Todd will be here. Others too, but really, how often does she leave Ireland these days? I can not wait for it. I told hubby not to plan anything that weekend- it’s our anniversary and I already have plans.
I love sci-fi/fantasy.
