Woohoo, finally, the coronation ceremony for Sandy, for guessing the correct answers to last Friday’s personal ad contest. Kneel, Sandy, and I hope you’re not allergic to seafood, for we Smart Bitches dub thee:

Like all things in French: sounds great, but best not to know what it means!  Congrats!

barbered/shaved smooth clam?

Wow, you Bitches are really working hard for these titles?

Is there a list anywhere on site of the peerage so far? Or it is hunt-n-peck through the want-ads. (Call me lazy.)

Congratulations, your ladyship.  Wear your title with pride….and some soothing lotion.

Do you know how unseemly it is to snort-laugh at the French translation of “bearded clam” while at my desk at work? Because there was a mortified blush happening at the same time (I was raised Catholic and Conflicted) so it was pretty noticable. And pretty damn hard to explain.

And YAY Sandy!

Suisan and Darlene: Shaved Clam would’ve been translated as “Palourde Rasée.” Beth had it right.

But now I have a new idea for a noble title. Whee!

Suisan said on 06.22.06 at 09:59 PM

Yeah, I got confused because palourde is translated in the culinary world as “smooth clam” (I think as opposed to razor clam, but now I can’t find the Larrousse. Is razor clam couteau?)

Anyway, palourde sent me on the smooth/shaved train. Dim bulb. Sorry.

Mea Culpa.

(Although I never took Latin, so who knows what that means. Six and half years of French, three of Ancient Greek., and I still can’t translate anything.)

Brekekekex, ko-ax, ko-ax,

Suisan

Beth is just blushing because she has never known nobility before. :)

Sandy, Comtesse de la Palourde Barbue

Suisan—an Aristophanes reference? I’m impressed! Hot damn.
