We never got to hear why Sarah is a doofus. The book doesn’t exist?

Cor… a simple country lass like *me*... elevated to the *peerage*!  Dreams do indeed come true sometimes.

Congratulations, Elle!  How wonderful that you’ve finally joined the peerage; I was so excited when I read your guess that I wanted to announce you as the winner before Sarah did (of course that could also be cause I actually knew the answer myself for like the fifth time ever :D ).

Was the reason that SB Sarah was a doofus because the book in question won’t be released until say… November.. making it, Karen Ranney’s, Autumn in Scotland and the heroine is Charlotte Haversham?

Thank you Lady Robin and the rest of the SB peerage.  And, of course, the hoi polloi who made my victory possible by not typing in the answer as quickly as I did.  I was sure that I was in for another “agony of defeat” moment just like the last time I actually knew the correct answer, but alas, was too slow with my response.  My internet connection was even trying to thwart my aspirations for a SB title last night—I think that the satellite dish was being drowned in the monsoon we are having.

darn… next time I go with my instincts!  grrrrr….

For now I will have to drown my sorrows for the loss of the title with a pitcher of sangria.. or, um, a gallon of ratafia

Yay, Elle, you’ve got a title! (And you didn’t even have to marry anyone to get it!)That’ll get you into Almack’s, for sure. But maybe not into Debrett’s, since that shire where your ancestoral home is situated is likely located a little too far south for gentility ... if you know what I mean. So, Elle, are you gonna start practicing your waltzing? Also, get working on your ability to raise one eyebrow, in such a way that you can communicate across a crowded ballroom. That’s kind of essential to the genre, you know. It’s like knowing how to semaphore.
