Last night, news broke on Twitter that Rhode Island's house of representatives had approved a bill in favor of gay marriage, and sent that bill to the governor for signature. Governor Lincoln Chafee signed the bill into law hours later. Yay Rhode Island! High fives!
Jocelyn emailed me the following two videos, which are from mid-April, so you may have already seen them. But they are beautiful.
First, New Zealand MP Maurice Williamson (representing Pakuranga, a suburb of Auckland) has a very funny and eloquent defense of gay marriage:

Then the bill was passed, and my heart squeezed six or seven times watching this video. The public gallery above the parliamentary chamber began to sing a Maori folk song, Pokarekare Ana.

Tanita sent me this thought-provoking and wonderfully interesting video. It's longer than our normal Friday videos, but given that it's all about breaking down stigmas of judgment and condemnation against sex, the extra time is needed to explain things. Recasting sex by comparing it to an improvisational jam session allows Canadian sex educator Karen B. K. Chan to say some amazing things:

I hope this embed works for everyone - it should be universally visible. Christiann Rosemurgy let her dog out during a blizzard in Michigan, and the result made me laugh every single time I watched it - and I think I've watched it six or seven times in a row.

(For those who can't see the video: the dog goes out into the snow, and goes down the back porch stairs and WHOOMP disappears into a snowbank about 3-4' high. It's hilarious.)
