But Wait, There’s More Conferences!

I don’t know if I’ve mentioned the epic clusterfuck of travel I have going on this week, but in case you’re curious, here we go. Presently I’m at Romantic Times in Orlando, where today I’m on a panel about historical romance with Jane. Then, this afternoon I’m on a panel about social networking and new media with Ron Hogan. That will be so difficult, since there’s really nothing about Twitter or the growing power of using a social network to reach consumers (*koff koff Dominos *koff koff Amazon) that we can talk about in terms of author promotion.

Then tomorrow Jane and I are on another panel about blogging. Don’t know what we’re going to find to talk about there. This is the panel at which hecklers promised to show themselves. I have two cameras in my bag for that reason.

After the blogging-stravaganza, I head to the airport where I fly back up to Jersey to attend the Princeton Romance Conference where I’m on the closing plenary panel. So in the middle of the RT reporting with the cover models and the costumes and the discussions of urban fantasy and the presence of leather camisoles, I’ll switch over to race and racism in romance, heuristic discussions of the man-titty and the psychosocial significance of urban warrior imagery in contemporary fantasy romance. You won’t notice a difference.

Then, I fly back down to Florida so I can be at RT for the book signing on Saturday morning, and my first ever Mr. Romance pageant. Jane is so enamored of my presence that she’s changed her flight to leave Sunday so she can also experience the wonderment. It’ll be a fun week. Perhaps I will also sleep. Maybe.

Since the bars in Orlando close at midnight, I probably will get some sleep.

I thought readers were supposed to be homebodies who stayed in their pj’s, wrapped up in comfy quilt beside a stack of books with a bag of m&ms; nearby. Only getting dressed to hit the bookstores or to impress the UPS guy when he brings more books.
    Oh wait! That’s me!
Or bloggers, pasty pale puter nuts who rarely walk away from the screen.
*Waves a lazy fuzzy bunny slipper your way*
You have fun with all that traveling ,socializing and conferencing LOL. Pinch Jane for me..scratch that…Pinch a few Mr Romance contestants for me!
We’ll all try not to think about all the free books and gal pal fun that’s going on. J E A L O U S!!

So multifaceted, our Sarah!  I’m glad to see the man titty will be on your plate at both conferences.  I’d hate to see you absorb too much shock in going back and forth.

Have a great time, and don’t get the vapors at Mr. Romance.

I’ve been looking forward to close-up pictures of the
plagiarist-supporters for what seems like forevah….. if they show up, that is.

    And whoa! The words

    urban warrior imagery

make me want to go read a book NOW!

Whoa, whoa, whoa. Bars close at midnight in Orlando?

    I don’t understand.

Close at midnight?  You must be going to the tourist bars, cause the ones I frequent are open a helluva lot later than that!

I can tell you I’ve closed Jelly Rolls (the dueling piano bar at the Disney Boardwalk) at 2:00 A.M. more times than I can count.
    Always, always a good time!

I had totally forgotten about the ladies threatening to stage an “up with plagiarism” rally. In the unlikely event that they show up I really want to see pictures.

Thanks for the heads up about the Princeton conference. Just signed up and looking forward to your panel discussion. It hasn’t been advertised much around the university, so I’m glad I checked out your blog - or I wouldn’t have even known it was happening!

When are you going to find time to relax?

If you do post pictures of plagerist supporters, can we suggest funny captions for them?  Because I bet we could come up with some good ones.  (Maybe the pictures, with the winning captions, could have their very own page!)

If they actually show up, of course.

    Excellent idea!

Yeah, I’m glad for the Princeton heads up too. I’ll be there for part of it, at least.

Can I just say, I’m loving the Tweets at the top of the page.  I’m half tempted to sign up for a Twitter account just to follow the convention coverage, but I really, really don’t want to get sucked into the world of Twitter.

consider69- Always!  (Except maybe with the guy on the cover of that book.  Yikes!)

You are going to be seasoned like a mofo by the time you get sprung to come to Chicago next year and I for one am doing the snoopy happy dance.  Why you ask?  Look at the Lotsapalooza of awesomeness that you’re working now and that I can impose upon you to present later!!  And with Carrie Lofty lurking somewhere nearby with a billionaire’s mistresses secret baby tucked in her backpack, you can’t tell me that it won’t a hella good time.  Yeah babee!  LOL.
    Enjoy your whirlwind.

*Sigh* I wish I could come to the Mr. Romance competition.
