The Black Lyon - Jude Deveraux

The Black Lyon is on sale for $1.99 digitally. And, as Jane pointed out on Twitter, there is no explanation why this book is labeled “The Black Lyon (Bernie Rhodenbarr Mysteries)” – but I'm having fun imagining the possibilities!

Darkly handsome and rich beyond imagining, the bold English conqueror was called “the Black Lyon” for his lionlike ferocity. He had no match among enemies, or women . . . until he met Lyonene, the green-eyed beauty whose fiery spirit equaled his own.

Through a whirlwind romance and stormy marriage, she endured every peril to be by his side, until vicious lies and jealousy drove her into danger. Now only the fierce Black Lyon can save her—for he alone has the courage to destroy the ruthless plot threatening to shatter the bond of love the Lyon and his lady vowed would never be broken . . .

The International Kissing club

The International Kissing Club is $1.99 digitally.

Piper, Cassidy, Mei, and Izzy have been best friends their whole lives. And they’ve always agreed on one goal: to get out of tiny Paris, Texas, and see the world. The school’s foreign exchange program seems like the perfect escape: Piper will go to the original Paris; Mei will go to China; Cassidy will go to Australia; and Izzy, unable to afford the program, will stay at home.

To add spice to their semester away, and to stay connected to their best friends, the girls start The International Kissing Club, a Facebook page where they can anonymously update one another and brag about all the amazing guys they’re meeting. After all, these girls are traveling abroad: amazing guys abound at every turn! But sometimes fun, flirty vacation flings turn into more serious romances, and sometimes you don’t return from abroad the same person you were. Will the girls’ relationships-and their friendships-be able to survive?

I have no idea why Jude Deveraux’s book, would have that subtitle as it rightly belongs to a mystery series by Lawrence Block, The Burglar Who… Great series though, if any of y’all are into mysteries.  Much lighter and funnier than his Matthew Scudder series.

Deveraux’s The Enchanted Land is also on sale for $1.99, at least for Nook. I remember carrying this in my backpack in high school so I’d have something to read besides textbooks…

  4. Ken Houghton says:

The links for The Girlfriend Project go to Law’s The Enchanted Land.

So.. one of the reviews of Black Lyon mentions rape and spousal abuse. Anyone verify or discredit this? I can’t read these kind of books (triggers) so want to avoid this one if it’s true.
