This video contains content from Sony Music Entertainment, who has blocked it in your country on copyright grounds.

    Dammit!

I saw this when it was going around Facebook a few weeks ago, and shared it with everyone I could think of. I just love it so much.

Is it wrong that I can name all the clips? I love dancing movies, will watch my faves over and over again. (Did I see Yolanda and The Thief in there?)

  15. Zoe Archer said on 10.01.10 at 05:28 PM[link]

I think I’ll watch that video whenever I need the figurative shot of adrenalin in the heart. And then I’ll watch Bob Ross painting videos to calm me down.

  16. Ellen W. said on 10.01.10 at 06:09 PM[link]

So many of my favorite movies! Strictly Ballroom sort of changed my life (I seriously think the real reason I was in lourve with this one guy in Jr. High was because he was a dead ringer for Scott.)

Also- it had to end on the Flashdance splash!

  17. Blue Angel said on 10.01.10 at 06:44 PM[link]

Fabulous!  Great fun!  I’m going to forward it to all my friends.  Hey, anyone know what movie that clip of the French (?) court dancing down the stairs of Versailles?  “Marie Antoinette,” maybe?

  18. Blue Angel said on 10.01.10 at 06:55 PM[link]

Oh, yes, it’s “Phantom of the Opera.”  Of course.

  19. Daisy said on 10.01.10 at 07:33 PM[link]

Well if that doesn’t make you want to get up and move nothing will!

Great video - must go share with my daughter. ;)

  20. Tina C. said on 10.01.10 at 07:41 PM[link]

That was fabulous!  Baryshnikov, oh my! *swoon*  And two of my all-time favorite dancing movies—Strictly Ballroom and Dirty Dancing.  That was some incredible editing there, also, to match the tempo of the clips so perfectly to each other and to the song.  Great Friday video!

  21. Sandra said on 10.01.10 at 08:17 PM[link]

    Fabulous.

    Hines and Baryshnikov.  Sigh.

You said it, sister. Not the best movie in the world, but worth it just to watch those two dance together.

  22. Susanna Kearsley said on 10.01.10 at 08:18 PM[link]

    Baryshnikov. White Nights.

I am now officially in my happy place.

  23. Carrie said on 10.01.10 at 08:50 PM[link]

    WHEEE!

  24. Barb said on 10.01.10 at 10:56 PM[link]

That video clip was outstanding!  So many movies brought back wonderful memories!  Thank you for that!

  25. Kathy said on 10.01.10 at 11:36 PM[link]

Is it sad that I’ve seen all but 2 of those dancetastic movies!  Thanks for making my day a little sunnier!

  26. bungluna said on 10.01.10 at 11:55 PM[link]

I don’t recognize all of the movies, and all I could find out was that 40 movies were represented.  Could we play name that movie?
    1. Saturday Night Fever

    Not bad!

  29. Elise Logan said on 10.02.10 at 01:55 AM[link]

Y’all. White Nights has some of my favorite dance sequences ever in any movie. Add to that the Dirty Dancing, Saturday Night Fever, Grease, True Lies, Footloose, Austin Powers, Rocky Horror and so many others… that is a whole 50 gallon drum of awesome.

  30. Suze said on 10.02.10 at 03:00 AM[link]

Wow.  I’m a whore for dance movies.  I’ve seen almost all of those at least once.  Hmm, I feel a Strictly Ballroom viewing coming upon me tonight.  :)

Thanks for that!  Makes me wish more movies found a reason to insert a little dance number.

  38. Lyssa said on 10.04.10 at 03:18 AM[link]

So much fun…but it was also a Travolta fest…“Wild Hogs” “Pulp Fiction” “Perfect” “Saturday night fever” “Grease”...who knew Travolta had so many great dance moments in him? (Second place to Jamie Lee Curtis for “Perfect” “True Lies”)

  39. meardaba said on 10.04.10 at 04:49 AM[link]

Amazing!  Thanks for sharing that, Sarah!!  You gave my weekend a toe-tapping themesong!

  40. jes1 said on 10.04.10 at 05:01 AM[link]

Gene Kelly was my absolute favorite dancer/actor ever.  He was always magnificent.  It didn’t matter that he was from my mothers generation, he made me swoon every time I saw him.  But for comedic genius while dancing, no one could beat Donald O’Conner.

  41. Nifty said on 10.05.10 at 03:20 AM[link]

Any clip from Seven Brides for Seven Brothers always makes me smile.  “Them women were sobbin’, sobbin’, sobbin’, fit to be tied; every muscle was throbbin’, throbbin’, throbbin from that riotous ride.”  Hehe.

  42. Alexis Harrington said on 10.05.10 at 09:23 AM[link]

How wonderful!!!! Thanks for sharing! On Friday, I was dragging the old bod through Disneyland—a truly grand place that no one is ever too old for, but I was pooped at the end of the day.

Looking at all these young’uns jumping around in that video with such precision gave me a supercharge.

    Alexis

  43. Rachel said on 10.09.10 at 10:51 PM[link]
