Behold! A Video Interview with Jesse Petersen!
by SB Sarah | September 01, 2010 | Wednesday at 11:42 am | 20 CommentsJesse Peterson won the author interview I offered for the Brenda Novak Diabetes Auction, and she wanted to talk about her book Married With Zombies, which comes out 1 September 2010.
I decided it might be fun to do a goofy video author interview, and ask Jesse about her book, and what’s next in zombie fiction. She totally went along with my bizarre questions during the RWA conference - we’re in the lobby of the hotel, which fit the odd and silly finished product. Enjoy!

Sold! I’ll put Married with Zombies on my selection list for the library as soon as I get into work today. I’ll buy my own copy on Friday, when i can get to the bookstore.
Jesse is awesome (and so is SB Sarah, of course)—-what a fun interview!
And the style is terrific . . . .wish I had mad vid skills.

It’s not so much me as it is iMovie, which I love a *little* too much.

Great interview! - The whole thing about zombies “doing it” and the whole smell issue reminded me of that Old Spice commercial again:
Plus we could get Bruce Campbell to play the Zombie Leader al la Army of Darkness. That would be sort of meta-old-spice.
Groovy.

Scary thing is, there’s already zombie YA. I read one earlier this year called “I Kissed a Zombie, and I Liked It” by Adam Selzer.

I was actually a lucky winner of the ARC from Ms. Petersen at the Diabetes Auction and loved the book. I would recommend it highly as it has that the refreshing intro to the book with the couple heading to marriage counselor’s office and running into zombies.

I definitely plan to buy this book. Marriage counselor zombie? Genius, Jenna, genius.
That being said, and with all due respect to zombies…where are the unicorn heroes, huh? Because THAT, my friends, is an idea whose time has come. Also, leprechauns. Surely I can’t be the only one who finds leprechauns smokin’ hot.

I saw the ad for “How long would your relationship last in the zombie apocalypse?” and took the quiz the other day, so I already had this book on my “need to buy” list. After the interview, I’m doubly convinced!

I’ve been intrigued by this book since it was mentioned here (was that during some kind of Valentine’s Day promo? I remember it was a while back!)
But as much as I loved that interivew (and seeing how fun and funny an author is always helps get my interest!) I hope someone will post a review soon. I enjoyed the excerpt I read of the first chapter, but keep wondering if the fun factor can be sustained or if it will turn into a one-joke book. I think this is Book 1 of a planned trilogy so I’m especially curious to know how well it stands up to the buzz….

Married with Zombies - finally a book for both me and my wife!
But geographical restrictions strike again. “This title is not available for customers from: Australia”. I hope zombies eat Orbit :-)

@peggyh: I am halfway through and it is a fast-plotted, funny, entertaining, snort-out-loud read so far. I think you might like it. It’s not seeming like a one-joke book to me.
And oh, Australia, why did Orbit shut you out like that? I am full of woe on your behalf.

How often do you have the perfect opening for a very bad zombie joke? It’s very old, but resistance is futile…
What did the zombie say to the prostitute?
You can keep the tip.

Thanks, Sarah! Looking forward to reading your thoughts on the book! (Though already on my wish list and thinking I may just get it after all…I can hear the call of the zombies…!)

Rampant, by Diana Peterfreund is about unicorns. Not really heroic unicorns, but if you squint at the end, one of them is sort of heroic. Great book, anyway.
spamword three68 - are 68 threesomes too many in an erotic romance? Only id one of the men is “fucking her ass: saving her life”!

Yep, there is lots of YA fiction already. Dan Waters has a trilogy- Generation Dead, Kiss of Life, and Passing Strange. There’s also Zombie Queen of Newbury High, the aforementioned I Kissed A Zombie and I Liked It, and You Are So Undead To Me, followed by Undead Much?
There’s also Zombie Blondes, but that’s less romance than the other books- much closer to horror.
The zombies are everywhere… I saw a zombie crosstitch recently, and there’s even a mention of zombies in the book Mennonite in a Little Black Dress.
One of our reviewers at MonsterLibrarian.com just reviewed a book called Lucky Stiff. I don’t know that it’s actually a romance, although that’s what she called it, but the title made me groan a lot.
