And the Nominees Are…

by SB Sarah | April 07, 2006 | Friday at 8:35 pm | 26 Comments

We have calculated the votes and assembled the slate of nominees, so here we go: voting will now commence for the first annual BWAHA Awards - Bitchery Writing Award for Hellagood Authors.

We had so many votes for Paranormal that we had to split the category - so now we have ‘Best Paranormal: Fantasy/SF/Other Worlds Romance,’ and ‘Best Paranormal: Vampires, Werewolves, and the Supernatural.’ Further, in categories where we had many submissions, we had to drop those that only garnered one nomination.

Please email your votes to .(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address) AND .(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address) by midnight, PDT, Sunday, April 16, 2006.

Please vote once for each category, and thanks very much for helping us create our new annual awards!

So you know how everyone was complaining about not having read any of the RITA nominees?

I’ve read one and a half of the Smart Bitches nominees.

    Not much better.

I’ve read one and a half of the Smart Bitches nominees.

Heh, I’ve read three of them, and have four more in my TBR stacks. This is why I don’t try to fill out polls and such for annual awards.

Oops! Thanks for catching that, Sarah. It’s now corrected.

I’ve only read three of these! But at least I have a shopping list.

wow, I really need to get reading. . .I think I’ve read one book from that list. ONE. Can I vote for it now?

  11. Nicole said on 04.08.06 at 02:17 AM • [comment link]

Well, I’ve read seven and have a few more tbr.  Ex and the Single Girl is up soon, since it’s a library book.

And I didn’t nominate.  I just couldn’t decide on books.

  12. PC Cast said on 04.08.06 at 03:55 AM • [comment link]

Thank you Smart Bitchery thank you!  I’m practically peeing on myself with excitement over my nomination!  I’m honored and I’m in excellent company.

hrmm, I think I have read about 13 of the books, nominated, however, there are still 24 that I haven’t read.  Always good to have a TBR list.  And still doing better than the RITA nominated list.

  15. Janet Mullany said on 04.08.06 at 03:01 PM • [comment link]

Wow! What an honor, and in such good company. Thank you, dear bitches.

Yes, thanks, SBs. It’s truly an honor to be nominated. And, I’m jazzed to see some really worthy people getting the nods here. Among them my buddies Ellen Henderson and Tielle St. Claire, who so very much deserve any and all recognition they get!

(Yes, I’m name-dropping, and I don’t care. They’re awesome and I’m excited people are noticing!)

And I think with people like PC, CJ, and JR getting nominated, there might be something to this whole initial thing. Too late for me to start going by LD? ;)

  17. CJ said on 04.08.06 at 04:03 PM • [comment link]

Hot damn!  What a list.  I’m totally honored to be on it.  Thanks, ladies!Good luck to all the nominees.

  18. PC Cast said on 04.08.06 at 06:44 PM • [comment link]

Lani (or LD) - I was just laughing about the initial thing myself.  Personally I chose to use PC because nodamnbody under the age of 85 can seem to spell Phyllis correctly, so Phyllis Christine became PC.

And please pass along to your friend Tielle that I ADORE her Dragon series.  Excellent writing and hot hot hot!

  19. emdee said on 04.08.06 at 06:47 PM • [comment link]

Wow, I’ve read 3 of those books.  I am constantly reading and have never heard of most of those titles.  I don’t understand why.  I surf the net for recommendations.  I’m very puzzled.  Why haven’t I heard about these books?

  20. Nicole said on 04.08.06 at 07:08 PM • [comment link]

And can someone tell Tielle that she needs to write the next damn book in the dragon series?  I mean, she left whatshername out in the desert and now I don’t know what happened!!!!!!!!!

    Bad authors, bad.

  21. Sandra K. Moore said on 04.09.06 at 11:37 PM • [comment link]

Bitchin! I never imagined I’d see my book on the SMTB site, in any way, shape or form. Thanks for the nod, and thanks to Cathie for letting me know this was up.

    Bitch on.

I just found out about the nomination for Poison Study today!  Thanks so much!  What an honor! And what a cool site. I thought the RITA nod was fantastic, but a BWAHA nod gives me bragging rights :)

At last year’s World Fantasy Con both Laura Anne Gilman and Sarah Zettel called me a Bitch - now I realize what an honor it is - next year I’ll wear a pin or T-shirt or something!

    Thanks so much!
    Maria V.
