All About Us!

Writer’s Unboxed contacted us about doing an interview with the Smart Bitches, and send us really good questions to which we replied with many, many words. Seriously. A lot of words.

Check out the whole interview, if you have, like, two hours, and let us know what you think.

As always- well stated, direct, fresh and bithcy. Just the way we like you.

I like bithcy.  Kinda says it all.

    Great review, ladies!

This interview makes me wish you lived close by so we could be neighbors and drink cocktails in the afternoon while laughing out asses off thus negating the caloric intake of the drink.

Succinct & well said. Kudos to you both.

Chink & Jewy’s?? OMG, I almost hurt myself laughing. I told hubby—who falls under Chink while I was raised ever so slightly Jewy—and I kid you not, he went round eye. (This is work for him, lol) You’re the only romance site he gives a crap about, lol.

Excellent interview, particularly the part where you justify reviews. I’m an author and I still agree with you.

So…when’s this sidebar redesigning gonna happen?

Enjoyed the article very much.  Which Crusie book got a D?

Very nice.  This was my favorite line “they can’t find their asses with both hands, even if I spotted them a cheek”.  Gotta remember that one.

I love Darlene’s casting ideas for the bio-pick.  But are you sure that’s Oscar you’re smelling, Darlene, and not Fabio?

I almost hate to say this, Candy, because I know the reaction I would have to this kind of comment, but I can’t help myself: your online voice has sort of simultaneously settled down and gotten much bigger over the past year.

What model Treo do you have, Sarah, and do you like it?  I’ve been looking at these, even though they’re wicked expensive.

“bio-pick”—the new Pauly Shore movie?  About organic produce in space?

How about “bio-pic”?  Yeah, I was an English major.

I have a Treo 600, and I lust and covet the 650 for its increased memory, video capture abilities, and better keyboard, but woo, damn, are they expensive.

I got mine about two years ago, I think, and I love it. With a big honking memory card in there, I have no limit to the number of books I can carry. But with different formats, I have to have more than one reader, too. Meh.

    Heythere!

Teri and I want to let the loyal Bitchery fans know that we laughed ‘til we wet our Depends over the answers in this interview.  Candy and Sarah were a dream to interview mostly b/c they didn’t hold back…not that we expected them to, but they exceeded our expectations of snark and hilarity.  “Chink and Jewey” indeed (snerf).

Robi: what DO you mean by “settled down” and “gotten much bigger”? I’m reading it as “She’s found a schtick and is sticking with it” and “The schtick has become somewhat successful.” Unless by “settle down” you mean “she’s not stirring up as much shit as she used to.” I suppose both these interpretations would work, heh heh.

Thanks, Sarah; you’ve also inadvertantly answered another one of my questions about the life of the Treo.  Most mobiles seem to break down after 1.5 to 2 years, but it seems the Treo has a longer life (it should for that price!).  I may have to break down myself and get one (when I can save up enough pennies, that is).

Oh, damn, I knew you were going to ask that—one more indication that I don’t know when to keep my mouth shut.

Keep in mind that this is only an impression I have, so I won’t really explain it in a way that reflects my intuitive sense.  But when you guys started this site, a couple of people commented to me that it felt sort of like a clique (an intimidating clique, at that), and even though I didn’t really agree, I could see how people would find some of the blunter, more profane, and sometimes pretty harsh language not so very welcoming for people less assertive than, well, myself, for example (it even took me a while to get up the guts to post, and I consider myself pretty confident).  Over the months, though, I have watched your online persona become a little more, I don’t know, refined, I guess—the profanity and harshness a little more selectively (and IMO effectively) endowed, the meatier and more intellectually subtle points forefronted, the emphasis more on your authority rather than on open rebellion against what you’ve wanted to expose and oppose (more smarts, less bitch, I guess).  I don’t know; it just feels like you’ve shifted from the position of rebellious student to subversive teacher, if that makes any sense (and interestingly, I think Sarah has gotten publicly bolder and bawdier here, which has been really fun to watch). I mean all this as a compliment (because I think it secures a more lasting influence for you guys and the site), although I think if I heard it said of myself I would be initially inclined to respond with a long, profanity-ridden rant (another great reason why I don’t have my own blog).

Ah, but that’s where you need a Pocket PC.  Then you can have all the formats you want.

    Great interview!!

Now that’s an idea - an international tour. There’s a very nice 19thC hotel in my town with a verandah just waiting for the SBs with lots of glasses of champagne.

I’m going to reveal my supreme dorkiness and share that I often find myself talking about Sarah and Candy like we’ve actually met.  Of course, my friends don’t mind, because they think you’re hillarious.

Thanks for such a great site.  Even if I don’t always agree with you (it’s rare - but it happens), I always appreciate your perspective and you always make me laugh.

Made me feel like I was sitting in a Starbuck’s asking the questions myself. Wicked cool.

    OMG LOL - great interview!

Very interesting to learn how the site came about.

I have to agree the finding their asses comment made me damn near spit my pop out on the keyboard.
