Alan Rickman reading Sonnet 130
by SB Sarah | September 30, 2007 | Sunday at 2:39 am | 28 CommentsBitchery reader Eliza was kind enough to send me the .mp3 of Alan Rickman reading Sonnet 130. Try to breathe normally, ya’ll.
(And please, right click and save lest you hurt our server’s feelings. It’s listening to the .mp3 on repeat, too.)

I think my brain just melted.
Yup, it’s dripping out of my ears now.
I could listen to that man for hours.

Is it so wrong that I watched all the Harry Potter movies just for Alan Rickman? And that I wanted him to kick Kevin Costner’s butt in Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves?

No, its not wrong that I wanted one of those Snape action figures either.
He’s the reason I love the Emma Thompson version of Sense and Sensibility.

If watching Harry Potter for Alan Rickman is wrong, then I don’t want to be right. My feelings about Snape changed dramatically when the movies came out…

I need a new keyboard… the sheer amount of drool that spilled from my lips… oh boy.
I swear this man could read tax pamphlets and I’d get happy in the pants.

If dark chocolate had a voice, it would be Alan Rickman’s.

My tongue is tingling to lick his face.
Eliza said on 09.30.07 at 10:44 AM
Heh, Wendy. He’s old enough to be my GRANDFATHER and I still want to lick him. Like, a lot.
All my friends wonder why on earth I know this sonnet off by heart. I choose not to tell them about this. Though I do ponder making it my ringtone.

Is it because he sounds slightly dangerous, like he just may bite? Well, hopefully?

Oh good Lord.
There goes my day.
Who knew it was possible to say ‘breasts’ like that?
Deanna Lee said on 09.30.07 at 07:17 PM
That sounded so naughty and perfect at the same time—he could read from the dictionary and be sexy.
Ann Bruce said on 09.30.07 at 07:27 PM
Do the action figures talk? Imagine your very own Alan Rickman standing on your desk and speaking to you while you write. It might be better inspiration than the NR bobblehead.

OH DEAR GODS YES.

What a nice way to start the day. Thanks, Eliza and Sarah!
“If dark chocolate had a voice, it would be Alan Rickman’s.”
That’s the perfect sentence to describe it.

Oh God.
That happens to be my favorite sonnet…I think I’m legally dead, now. I love that man (yes, he’s old enough to be my grandfather as well).

Pardon my crudeness, but I just came a little, in my undies.

Oh my. OH MY.

Well that just made me lose my case of the “Mondays.” Now if only Alan Rickman would read me to sleep each night (etc etc) then I think I’d be quite cured from any potential insomnia ever again.

I’ve lost my ability to speak or form a coherent thought…but luckily, you all have said it all perfectly.
Dark chocolate indeed.

God,i can’t stop listening to this thing!!!
Aren’t there any other sonnets read by Alan Rickman?!

I think I’m alone in finding Alan Rickman terrifying.
I’m going to go and try to erase the memory of him saying ‘breasts’ right in my ear. Stupid headphones.
Two thumbs up for sonnet 130, though!

Bring me my fainting couch and my smelling salts, I am retiring for the evening.

Alas, this is the only sonnet that Alan Rickman reads on “When Love Speaks,” a delightful CD featuring a bunch of (mostly British) actors and musicians reading Shakespeare sonnets.
I also own a book on tape of Rickman reading “The Return of the Native.” Yes, that man can even make Thomas Hardy sound sexy.

I also own a book on tape of Rickman reading “The Return of the Native,” which prompted me to go on many long walks just to keep hearing that luscious voice on my Walkman. Yes, that man can even make Thomas Hardy sexy.
