A Heaping Pile of Books: The Winner!

by SB Sarah | April 21, 2009 | Tuesday at 4:37 pm | 14 Comments

Let me just say, that if you guys open a hotel, I’m coming to live there. Picking a winner for the heaping pile of signed books was not easy!

Runners Up:

- Cirlot described rooms that I wanted to go play in, and so many of you came up with romantic pairs that were perfect.
- Tessa’s Cal and Min from Bet Me suggested by many!
- Meaghan’s Jamie and Claire from Outlander
- Saam’s Margaret and Thornton from North and South  - the BBC version, if you’re not familiar with it.
- Kerry D’s Anne Shirley and Gilbert Blythe
- Beatrice and Benedick first suggested by Melissa S.
- LoveCow2000‘s Joan Wilder and Jack Colton from Romancing the Stone, one of my all time favorite movies, especially at the end when they sail a boat up Park Avenue.
- Sancha’s Adam & Amanda room, after Adam’s Rib
- Lyra’s Eowyn and Faramir, because, rwor. Kickass!
- Jennie Blake first suggested the Tommy & Tuppence Beresford room, which, oh, please. So adorable.

Special mention of couples who aren’t really couples but so work:

- Seton’s Fred & Ginger - awesome idea!
- And big smooches to RebyJ for the Smart Bitches room - MWAH.

But I had to pick one, because, well, duh, there can only be one. So: the winner: Rae, and Rae’s husband:  for a truly strong heroine and equally smoldering hero: Han & Leia.

Ron & Hermione are a lovely idea, too! To say nothing of the potential of Lloyd and Diane, or Niles and Daphne, or Harry & Ginny.

What I love about all the ideas, particularly Rae’s, is that the couples are not only happy in their ever after, but you’re happy for them as a reader, and sharing that joy by staying in a room with a theme based on their story is just FUN. And, if you’ve been at the Inn Boonsboro (and you should SO GO OMG), outrageously wonderful.

What, too much schmaltz? Feh. I haven’t had coffee yet. The cranky is in the caffeine, don’t you know.

Enjoy your ill gotten booty, woman!

Geeze what’s the world coming to when ass kissin doesn’t work??  ;)
    Congrats Rae!

    woot!!!

You have no idea how much fun we had doing that…once we got going, we were a little crazy. And sadly, those were only the best of the bunch…you should hear some of the ones we threw out!

excuse me while I squee in glee. (squeee!)

Geez… My e-mail on this didn’t arrive on my iTouch until 4:02 pm last night and this is the first chance I’ve had to get to the big computer (better for real typing) and I missed it all!  Big SIGH!

Anyway, I was going to suggest the Kelly-Selwick room (Collin & Eloise from the Willig Pink Carnation series).  The decor would be slightly shabby, it’s okay to put your feet on the table, antiques.  A nice tech set up (computer, etc.)  and terrific book cases stocked with British history and customs trivia, contemporary and Napoleonic spy novels, and, of course, “horrid novels”.  Lots of British touches (tea kettle and service, umbrellas for protection, shawl, dressing gowns, light rain and mist out the windows), a huge fireplace with appropriate rug, and heavy drapes held in place by silk cords - to go with the 4 poster.  Best of all would be the hidden cupboards around the walls full of old documents, letters, and journals.  Every year new information would be added, supporting a repeating customer base yearning to learn more about the Pink Carnation and her leagues adventures.

    Congrats, Rae.

Also, someone suggested a Westley & Buttercup room in the other thread and the inn actually has one of those :)

    Congrats Rae:)

I know it’s after the contest fact but I didn’t see Eve Dallas and Roarke’s bedroom mentioned in all the “In Death” series.  Would it not be the ultimate love nest?

FYI I’m about 115 pages into Beyond Heaving Bosoms.  On page 39 when I was reading “A Hymn to the Hymen” I was laughing out loud in that hysterical woman way and at the same time trying not to wet myself.  Sweet Goddess…give a bitch a break:)

Seriously it’s very entertaining although I’m not sure I can continue my reading obsession after this without thinking about the heroine’s Magic Hoo Hoo and the hero’s Wang of Mighty Lovin’.  I’m going to have to have either a brain wipe or lobotomy before I’ll be able to read again.

My female GYN knows I read romance and even though she manages two or three books a week, she “doesn’t read romance.”  I’m feeling the bitchy need to gift her with Beyond Heaving Bosoms:)  I wonder if she’d mark my chart as having a Magic Hoo Hoo?!

Good job Rea! I can’t wait for another contest like this - at least they require some skill instead of simply “use our services/read our blog and you might win something”.

Congraulations, Rae. I love the Han/Leia room idea. Enjoy the books.

Nancy, we have an Eve and Roarke room at the inn. I think it’s pretty cool.

Everyone who played, I hope you had as much fun as I did reading the entries.

Congrats!  I had fun signing with all the authors.  Special thanks to Nora.

OMG - I want to go out to coffee with EVERYONE!  I really loved how many entries cited older or more esoteric books, esp Town Like Alice (*sigh*) and Elfquest (growl of bliss).  Is it wrong that all those rooms are such a turn on?  But I have to admit I really like the idea of a twin bed Smart bitches room for you and your best buddy.  With the books *sigh* and LOTS of chocolate provided!

That was quite the heaping pile.  I remember Elfquest.  With the success of Lord of the Rings as a movie, you think Hollywood might conisder making Elfquest movies.

Congrats Rae…now I want to stay in the Han and Leia room.

oh oh oh SQEEE I’m a Runner Up!
