52. An Interview with Lisa Gardner

Erin Galloway, who you heard from in podcast #49, set up an interview for Sarah at RWA this year with Lisa Gardner.

Lisa has been writing romantic suspense for 20+ years, and Erin thought I'd have a good time interviewing Lisa, despite the fact that I don't like romantic suspense. Erin was right! I did had a good time talking with Lisa about her writing career – which began under the name Alicia Scott in the romantic suspense genre. She talked with me about a trilogy of books first published by Silhouette Intimate Moments in 1997 that are being re-released this month. We also talk about anti-heroes and gothic romances, the elements of a successful suspense novel, and her goals when writing a mystery.

Here are the books we talk about in the podcast:

Book Maggie's Man - Alicia Scott Book MacNamara's Woman - Alicia Scott Book Brandon's Bride - Alicia Scott

We also talked about Lisa's next release in January, Fear Nothing.

Our podcast is proudly sponsored by Penguin, and they'd like to tell you about this new book from Intermix:

Book Not Until YouAn erotic romance serial novel in eight installments for the fans of Bared to You and Because You Are Mine.

On the night of her graduation, innocent veterinary student Cela thinks she’s earned a wild night before she has to move back home under the watchful gaze of her family. But what starts out as a simple game is about to take a very sensual turn…

Ian Foster is tired of playing games. With his membership to The Ranch, an exclusive BDSM resort, his need for dominance is no longer satisfied via one-night stands. He craves the full surrender of one woman—a submissive of his own.

But when his quiet, sweet-as-sugar neighbor shows up at their door with a bottle of tequila and an invitation, Foster decides he and Pike may have time for one more fling…

July just got 8 times sexier. Available this month in 8 irresistible chapters, Roni Loren’s NOT UNTIL YOU is the e-book everyone will be talking about.

  1. Another great podcast, Sarah! I enjoyed listening to it while taking my evening walk last night (luckily the downpour we had stopped just in time; it truly was a lovely walk, made all the more so by a new podcast to listen to!). I’m definitely putting the Family Secrets’ series on my list, it sounds GREAT! Thank you for bringing a new author to my attention, and please, keep up the wonderful work!

    Enjoy,
    TBQ

Just FYI, the Family Secrets trilogy was originally called Maximillian’s Children and MacNamara’s Woman and Brandon’s Bride were issued digitally as part of the Harlequin Treasury titles (they were originally Silhouette Intimate Moments).

Different covers and the titles have stayed the same, but just so no one accidentally duplicate buys.

I am so, so happy that they are being released as they were originally written. I strongly resent it when authors revise or change older books and then release them as “improved.” And as discussed in the podcast changing one thing, even something as seemingly trivial as CDs to MP3, causes a domino effect. So yay for releasing books as they were originally written.

  3. Access entry gate systems can be purchased in an abundance of styles,
colors and materials. A very common option is black wrought iron
fence and gate systems. It is a material that can be used in a variety of fencing styles to look more modern,
classic and even contemporary. Many varieties of fencing and gates can have access control systems incorporated into them.
Adding an access control entry system does not mean starting all over with your fence and gate.

You can add a system to turn any gate and fence into an access controlled system that adds convenience and value to your home.
