If you enjoy sci-fi, arranged marriage/marriage of convenience stories, courtly intrigues, and/or slow-burn romance, I think Winter’s Orbit is a great choice.
Fireworks by Sarina Bowen is 99c! This is the sixth book in Bowen’s True North series. I’ve enjoyed this series, but haven’t made it quite this far. If you’ve ever been curious about it, the first book is FREE! I also reviewed it and found the series to be great on audio.
Torn by Rowenna Miller is $2.99 and a Kindle Daily Deal! This is a fantasy novel with a seamstress main character. Not sure if this is YA though. Carrie read this one and gave it a C+. The pacing was too slow for her, but it’s possible future books may pick up in momentum:
This book is the first in a new series. It has a lot of potential – good technical writing, multiple female characters, discussion of class and class mobility, clothes porn, and more. If other books pick up the pace, it could be great, but this first book was too slow to keep me invested.
RECOMMENDED: The Governess Game by Tessa Dare is $3.99! This is the second book in the Girl Meets Duke series. Elyse gave this one a perfect grade, an A:
It’s one of the best, if not the best, book I’ve read this year and it was worth all the hours I spent reading that should have been spent sleeping.
The single biggest thing you need to know about this book up front is that it is an unapologetic celebration of materialism and name brands. To Woo a Wicked Widow by Jenna Jaxon is 99c at Amazon! This is the first book in The Widows’ Club and has a heroine who is trying to avoid getting married again. Readers seemed divided on the heroine. Some enjoyed her independence, while others couldn’t really connect with her.
RECOMMENDED: A Curious Beginning by Deanna Raybourn is 99c! This is a historical mystery and Sarah really enjoyed it. Here’s what she said:
I read A Curious Beginning with an I-cannot-put-this-down enthusiasm and devoured it very quickly. I relished both the characters and the mystery. The Veronica Speedwell series is excellent and intelligent fun, and while the second isn’t quite as satisfying as the first, I heartily recommend them both.
Stripped by Zoey Castile is $2.99! This is the first book in the Happy Endings series. I read this one and gave it a B grade:
Stripped is an uncomplicated romance between two goofy, sexy people. It has a sweetness to it that’s reminiscent of a contemporary friends to lovers trope. If that hits all of your buttons, do read this!
RECOMMENDED: Wicked Intentions by Elizabeth Hoyt is $1.99! I listened to this on audio after Elyse’s great review and loved it. I’ve since listened to the next two Maiden Lane books on audio as well. Elyse really enjoyed this book and gave it an A-:
Serial killer. And Ghost of St. Giles vigilante. And river pirate. And bondage.
If any or all of those things appeal to you, I’d really recommend this book. If you’re looking for a spicy historical, or one not focused around the glittering aristocracy, Wicked Intentions fits the bill. Aside from a few ball scenes, this book takes place among the working class of London.

I spent one weekend reading The Thing About Love, and it was so enjoyable and so much fun that knowing that I still had more of it to read left me in the best mood. It lifted my entire weekend, and when people ask me about it, I grin and wave my hands around and make Good Book Noise® (and then those people probably regret asking me).
