CW: Homophobia on the page and mentioned in the past Cat Sebastian is an auto-read for me. She never lets me down. And she certainly hasn’t with this book. Nick Russo is on the city desk at the Chronicle, a progressive newspaper in New York. (Progressive because they don’t toe the party line and they dare to criticise the police.) He’s worked hard to get there and he’s good at his job. He’s brusque, respected … Continue reading We Could Be So Good by Cat Sebastian →
RECOMMENDED: The Perfect Crimes of Marian Hayes by Cat Sebastian is $1.99! Carrie gave it a B+:
This book succeeds in that it gives an irresistible couple in sweet, goofy Rob and grumpy Marian. I adored this couple for their ability to think outside the box, their easy and complete acceptance of each other, and their banter.

OMG you guys, The Perfect Crimes of Marian Hayes is just one big basket of adorable and I never wanted it to end. This cozy historical romance follows the exploits of Marian, wife, or possibly (well, probably) widow to the Duke of Clare, and Rob, the highwayman who tries to blackmail her. This book is a sequel to The Queer Principles of Kit Webb and although I had no trouble following the story, I very … Continue reading The Perfect Crimes of Marian Hayes by Cat Sebastian →
I started reading Hither, Page, finished it too quickly, immediately hunted down the sequel, The Missing Page, and read that too quickly as well. One tagline I’ve seen reads, “cozy mystery like Agatha Christie but make it gay.” It’s not so cozy that the dead have about as much impact as a dissolving dead NPC in a video game; the cozy has sharp edges. For example, there’s the bucolic setting, but around the borders are … Continue reading Hither, Page by Cat Sebastian →
RECOMMENDED: Accidentally Engaged by Farah Heron is $2.99! Kiki reviewed this one and gave it an A-:
I cannot emphasize enough how hungry this book will make you.
Accidentally Engaged might be my top pick for “don’t read while hungry.” Between our heroine Reena’s bread baking (there’s rye, there’s challah, there’s an ongoing battle with a sourdough starter) and her Indian and East African cooking, I was craving a feast pretty much the whole time I was reading this book.

Hey all! We’re here with some Lightning Reviews. If you’re unfamiliar, these are quick reviews, usually around 500 words or less. We try to run two or three at a time. It’s kinda fun to see how different how reviewers’ tastes are, especially when we group their reviews together. This time, we have Cat Sebastian’s latest romance and a new thriller!
I confess, I have read almost all of Cat Sebastian’s books. There are so few left that I haven’t read, I’m savouring them and trying to make them last. So when I received an ARC of this book, I was just about ready to plotz. Saying that I went into this book with high expectations would be an understatement. Usually, this doesn’t end well for me, but, dear Bitchery, that is not the case this … Continue reading The Queer Principles of Kit Webb by Cat Sebastian →
Too Hot to Handle by Tessa Bailey is $2.99! I enjoy Bailey’s writing! Her dialogue feels very real and her dirty talk between characters is top notch. I loved the setup of an estranged family’s cross-country road trip. But I will admit the chemistry between the hero and heroine wavered at times.

Content Warning: Child abuse, sexual abuse, attempted suicide, torture (all off the page) Every moment of this book made me feel better. I’m in an ocean of chaos at the moment (as many of us are*) and this book was the door to which I clung in these frigid waters. Did it magically solve my problems? No. But as with all the best escapist fiction, it made me feel like things would be okay again … Continue reading Two Rogues Make a Right by Cat Sebastian →
RECOMMENDED: Sweet Agony by Charlotte Stein is $1.99! Elyse squeed about this one:
I acknowledge that Sweet Agony won’t be for everyone. Some readers may just think Cyrian’s an asshole and that’s fine. For me, for my individual reading experience, it was perfect and I’m so happy I found it.

I came close to crying more than once when reading A Delicate Deception. Sometimes I think of myself as a jaded reader; many books entertain me, but few impress me, and even fewer really move me. But then I read a book like this one and it turns me into a giant mush-ball and I think maybe my book-reading heart and brain are not so hardened as all that. A Delicate Deception is about Amelia … Continue reading A Delicate Deception by Cat Sebastian →
