Flare Up by Shannon Stacey is $1.99! This is a price-matched Kindle Daily Deal and part of the Boston Fire series. As the description notes, the heroine has some abuse in her backstory, which may or may not work for you as a reader. Personally, I am a little over it, but YMMV.

The Earl Takes a Fancy is, at most, one half of a sort of OK book – the half that belongs to the protagonist, Fancy Trewlove. The other half of the book belongs to Matthew Sommersby, Earl of Rosemont, and tragically, he is garbage. For a romance to work, I must have some attachment to both characters and want them to be together, and in this book, such is not the case. This book is … Continue reading The Earl Takes a Fancy by Lorraine Heath →
The Truth About Cowboys by Lisa Renee Jones is 99c! This is the first book in a new series and seems to have a lot of catnip, but also a lot going on: small town, an athlete turned cowboy, opposites attract, and a writer heroine. Fans of Jones say they enjoyed the departure from her typical romantic suspense.

I read Beyond Scandal and Desire while I was on vacation, and while it may have worked really well for me five years ago, current Elyse is really frustrated with heroes who use the heroine as a device for their revenge. As much as I appreciated other aspects of the novel, my frustration with the overall plotline carried through the whole book. It did, however, teach me about the language of parasols. Lady Aslyn Hastings is … Continue reading Beyond Scandal and Desire by Lorraine Heath →
Today I’m chatting with Lorraine Heath, bestselling author of more than 70 books over 25 years in writing romance. We talk about her titles in historical romance, contemporary and paranormal YA, how publishing has changed a little over the years, and of course we discuss her newest book, Beyond Scandal and Desire. We talk about writing as a craft and process, too: you’ll learn what advice Ms. Heath would give her writer self when she … Continue reading 287. After many season pass her by without the hint of actual love, the super wealthy Minerva Dodger embraces her spinsterhood. This was one of Sarah’s picks for this month’s Hide Your Wallet, and boy howdy, was it cringey. (Sarah: “DAMMIT.”) Edward, younger identical twin brother of the Earl of Greyling has come home from a trip to Africa where his brother has been killed in an accident. Instead of coming home as Edward, though, he’s pretending to be his brother (Albert), because Julia, his brother’s wife, is pregnant, and Albert, as he lay dying, told Edward to pretend … Continue reading The Earl Takes All by Lorraine Heath →
Confession time: I have never read a Lorraine Heath book until Falling Into Bed With a Duke. Clearly this was a mistake on my part. When I picked up this book, I wanted something that would pull me out of crappy day and the dead mouse smell that we couldn’t pinpoint in the office. So I took this book to the coffee shop, grabbed a cup of English breakfast, and proceeded to get lost in the … Continue reading Falling Into Bed With a Duke by Lorraine Heath →
Diary of an Accidental Wallflower by Jennifer McQuiston is $1.99 right now. This is the first book in McQuiston’s new series, Seduction Diaries, and it has a 3.92-star average on GoodReads. Readers who enjoyed it loved that the hero was of a lower social class than the heroine, but wasn’t hung up on his own worthiness. He’s a doctor, and she sprains her ankle right before the season starts. Several readers also describe McQuiston’s books as their new favorite comfort reads – now that’s a huge compliment!
