Lit Wicks: Kresley Cole

Welcome to Lit Wicks! This is where we pair an author’s backlist with candles to really immerse yourself in the reading experience. All of the candles featured in these post are from Etsy, which means there is often worldwide shipping and that you’re supporting independent sellers. The Etsy candle rabbit hole is one I have gone down many times. For March, we’re featuring one of my favorite authors: Kresley Cole! Her backlist includes historical romance, … Continue reading Lit Wicks: Kresley Cole

Books on Sale: Beginner’s Guide: Love and Other Chemical Reactions by Six de los Reyes & More

RECOMMENDED: Beginner’s Guide: Love and Other Chemical Reactions by Six de los Reyes is 99c at Amazon! Sarah enjoyed this nerdy romance and gave it a B:

Seriously, if you love science and experiments and science nerdery, you’ll probably really like this book. Much of the story is about Kaya’s journey from accepting herself to appreciating herself, and her growth from keeping a massive distance between her thoughts and her emotions to learning how to relate them to one another, and to take the risks involved in engaging with other people.

Sweet Ruin by Kresley Cole

Sweet Ruin

Sweet Ruin is the sixteenth book (wowzers) in Kresley Cole’s Immortals After Dark series. It’s probably the longest series I’ve stuck with and it’s a paranormal romance to boot. Each book operates in the one couple per book system, though I would not recommend reading this without reading the previous books, which is really always the crux of paranormal romance series. It’s hard for new readers to jump right in when they have to play … Continue reading Sweet Ruin by Kresley Cole

Books on Sale: The Warlord Wants Forever by Kresley Cole & More

The Warlord Wants Forever by Kresley Cole is $1.99! There is some contention about whether this is the true first book of the series or if it’s more like 0.5 in the series because of its shorter length. If I remember correctly, the story was actually in an anthology first and, truthfully, you can read the other books without having read this one. Though readers loved the strong heroine, a few thought she bordered on bitchy territory.

The Master by Kresley Cole

The Master

If you don’t remember, I reviewed the first book in the Game Maker series, The Professional  and enjoyed it with the caveat of fully committing myself to the crazy. Now that we’re another book into this strange world of erotic Russians, I was prepared. I knew what to expect and part of me was actually looking forward to seeing the ante upped in cracktastic glory. That is not what happened, which is probably why it … Continue reading The Master by Kresley Cole

Dark Skye by Kresley Cole

Dark Skye

First, allow me to scoop up the remnants of my brain from off the floor. I have been waiting for this book for years, ever since Thronos and Lanthe were introduced in Kiss of a Demon King. That was seven books ago. The two are natural enemies – a winged Vrekener and a Sorceri – but were childhood friends, and eventually more than just friendly attachments began to emerge. The Vrekeners killed Lanthe’s parents and, … Continue reading Dark Skye by Kresley Cole

The Professional by Kresley Cole

The Professional

I don’t even know where to start. You guys, this one is going to be tough. First, let me just state that I love Kresley Cole. I’ve read all the books in her Immortals After Dark series. I own Poison Princess. I’ve even dipped into her historicals. I would probably bid on Ebay for a lock of her hair. So of course, I was curious when she announced her plans to do something more … Continue reading The Professional by Kresley Cole

Books on Sale: Historical Romance from Julie Anne Long and Kresley Cole

To Love a Thief is not part of the Pennyroyal Green series, but it is on sale for $3.99. This book has a 3.9-star average on GR, and some readers say it gave them happy sighs and good book noise. Others were irked by the historical anachronisms. Have you read it? Ensnared! Lily Masters has a gift for picking pockets and telling stories—skills that come in handy for surviving London's slums. She's proud of providing … Continue reading Books on Sale: Historical Romance from Julie Anne Long and Kresley Cole

RECOMMENDED: The Duke of Shadows by Meredith Duran is $1.99 right now (along with two of Duran's other books, including a March 2014 pre-order,Fool Me Twice, and At Your Pleasure.) This was Duran's debut novel, and I reviewed it when it came out, giving it a B-:   “Duran’s use of color and symbolism is particularly deft, and simply marvelous. She references varying shades of color both in the reality of the madness in the Indian … Continue reading Books on Sale: More From Meredith Duran, Plus Scott Westerfeld, Mary Jo Putney, and Kresley Cole
