It’s DABWAHA 2015 Time!

DABWAHA - an open book with the word DABWAHA below it and yes I made that word up because reasons It’s DABWAHA time! When we tweet and vote monger and compete for prizes and silly fun as we celebrate some of the very best romances of 2014.

What’s a DABWAHA?

The DABWAHA is our annual NCAA-style tournament of books. 64 books are selected in 8 different categories, and readers pick brackets of which books they think will win each round.

The winners of each round are determined by public voting, so it helps your cause to promote the books you want to win each round.

That’s the short explanation of the tournament. You can get the full explanation on our How to Play post or you can ask us! We’re always around during tournament time, so if you don’t understand, comment, tweet or email us, k?

Nominations!

The nomination slate is ready. This year we have eight books in seven categories, and they have all been listed here at SBTB.

New this year: a reader nomination category! Yup, that’s right. Our 2014 categories are Contemporary, Historical, Novella, Series/Category, Paranormal/Fantasy/SciFi,  YA/NA, and Novel with Strong Romantic Elements.

The eighth category will be filled with the top eight books as nominated by you. Yup. You nominate the books you think should be included that aren’t listed right now.

Which books were we wrong to leave off? Fire up your browser and head on over to fill out the form to enter your nominations. ETA: You can nominate more than one book.

The book nominated can be digital or print, but please, wherever possible, use the ASIN or ISBN number for the PRINT edition to minimize duplicate entries.

PLEASE NOTE! The book MUST have a publication date of 2014. No exceptions, no reprints. No paperback version of 2013 hardcovers.

Schedule!

Want to see the complete schedule? Here it is!

Prizes!

Yes, of course there are prizes! There are prizes for each round of the tournament – whomever has the most perfect bracket after each round wins a prize. If there are multiple perfect brackets, tiebreakers are built into the software (see our FAQ). There are also prizes for the Second Chance Tournament, which opens once most of us (myself included) have busted our brackets irreparably.

Then, at the end, we award random bracket prizes to many different excellent random brackets, plus the much-coveted Wooden Spoon prize for the worst bracket of the entire tournament.

The winning bracket and the author of the winning book each will receive a 16gb WiFi iPad, from the TBR LLC, a joint venture of Smart Bitches Trashy Books LLC, and Dear Author Media Network, LLC. Awww yeah.

Would you like to contribute a prize to the tournament? Awesome! Please fill out this form and let us know what you’d like to offer!

ETA: Forgot something!

The tournament software is not always accessible to visually impaired users who use a screen reader. I don’t know of any tournament software that would work so I apologize. If you are having problems when the tournament software goes live, please contact me and I’ll help you out, k? (I’ll make this announcement again when the software is live).

Most Important! Most Important! Most Important!

The nomination form does not allow you to nominate more than one book unless you use a different email address each time.

Dangnabbit I thought I’d set it correctly – will fix!

  3. SB Sarah says:

Ok – I found the checkbox that should have been un-checked. Sorry about that. Feel free to nominate more books!

Sorry to tell you but there’s a bit of on inconsistency between the above information and the information on the site linked above (http://wp.me/p1rkLT-JT). The site states the following, that I suspect was left over from copying last year’s page as a template (something I do all the time):

Remember, only 2013 books qualify. In other words, the book MUST have a publication date of 2013. No exceptions, no reprints, no paperback version of 2012 hardcovers.

    Just thought you should know.
