Help A Bitch Out - SOLVED!

HaBO: Orgasms Are Better Than Cheese

You did it! We figured this one out! It is a truth universally acknowledged (by me for certain) that the Bitchery pretty much knows everything, and really, it's true. Scroll down to see the solution for this HaBO - and many thanks!

This HaBO request comes from Martina, who is hoping to find this romance:

The protagonist is a woman, she came from a rich family and was engaged to this well established man (and very much in love). On the evening of their engagement party she overhears her fiance and her dad talking about how he’s marrying her for money and land. She is heartbroken and leaves her house, breaking her engagement and contact with her dad.

After a few years, her dad dies and at the funeral she discovers that her dad left everything to her ex fiancé, so she strikes a bargain with him to get back her inheritance (don’t really remember the bargain, I think it’s marriage again).

She has three sisters and they all have their own books (plus a half-brother I think).

I have read this at least 3 years ago on kindle unlimited. It’s a romance, fiction and set now. It does have steamy scenes, I remember the protagonist “discovering” orgasms in the first few chapters and saying they were better than cheese.

It was such a nice book, please help me find it again!

Okay, as a cheese lover, definitely not. And I think this is a Molly O’Keefe book, though the name escapes me.

I’m pretty sure this IS the King Family series. O’Keefe wrote the first book (TYCOON—which is the “orgasms better than cheese” story) and the last (COWBOY). Julie Kriss wrote the third book (BASTARD, about the illegitimate half-brother). S. Doyle wrote the second book, BODYGUARD, and as far as I’m concerned that’s the weakest of the four books and could easily be skipped. The other three are definitely worth it, however.

  2. Rylie says:

Is it Tycoon, by Molly O’Keefe?

  3. Sarah Peach says:

Screeeeee!!! I actually know a HABO!! It is most definitely Tycoon by Molly O’Keefe…book one (and my personal favorite) of The King Family series.

  4. Amanda says:

    That’s the one! Tycoon!

  5. LML says:

Father of 4 (or 5) leaves everything to former fiancé of one of his daughters…wondering how that thoughtless-on-its-face action results in a “nice book”.

  6. DiscoDollyDeb says:

@LML: the focus is on the siblings. It’s clear their father is not admirable in any way. A major focus of the entire series is the attempt by the siblings to get the estate straightened out.

  7. Sandra says:

I agree with @LML. Seems to me the first choice would be to hire a lawyer to contest the will instead of agreeing to a coerced marriage. Historical, maybe. Contemporary, no way.

  8. JenC says:

OMG I knew a HABO! This is probably my most re-read romance of all time. I LOVE the angst and the feels. I’m always looking for a read-alike for this title.

  9. Sarah Peach says:

@JenC, SAME! And the glimpses of how much he loved her and wanted her before their engagement was ruined…just kill me with that good, good angst.

  10. Martina says:

Yes, it’s the Tycon by Molly O’keefe! Thank you soo much everyone for the help, I have been searching for this book forever!!
I usually don’t read a lot of contemporary romance, but this was such a nicely written angsty book that I wanted to read it a second time.

Thanks everybody for your help 🙂

  11. Irene Headley says:

@Amanda As a cheese lover myself I am relieved to inform you that her orgasms are not better than cheese, but do improve it.

  12. Kris Bock says:

Irene, her orgasms improve her cheese? Is that a cheesemaking technique? No need for aging 6 months in a cave, when you have orgasm dairy! I can imagine the ads … Now, made with more and better orgasms!
