  • Hottie Lumberjack

    Hottie Lumberjack by Tawna Fenske

Hottie Lumberjack by Tawna Fenske is 99c! I added this one to my TBR pile after reading this comment from Jenny on Whatcha Reading. Jenny says the covers in this series aren’t great, but she really enjoyed this one. In my romance book club, another member recommended the second book in this series, Chef Sugarlips, so I may have to bump these books up on my list.

When Mark Bracelyn lumbers into Chelsea Singer’s cupcake shop with an axe, she’s poised to hit the panic button. But he fixes her door, praises her buttercream, and sends her skittish heart pounding like a hammer on a hollow log, so he can’t be all that scary. Chelsea’s sure there’s a gooey marshmallow center under Mark’s tough outer shell, though admittedly she’s been wrong before.

Mark may look like a grungy lumberjack, but he’s also the wealthy part-owner of Ponderosa Luxury Ranch Resort. The lone Bracelyn heir to avoid a childhood of fancy boarding schools, he stays hidden behind the scruffy beard and battered truck. But something else separates Mark from his siblings, and keeping his guard up means keeping his secret—and his family.

When someone threatens Chelsea and her daughter, Mark becomes their personal protector. When he’s not watching her back, he’s watching the rest of Chelsea’s body and warning himself not to touch. With danger mounting, they bond over phallic cupcakes and bizarre bunny behavior, while Mark battles his surging attraction. Can a sweet-toothed mountain man and a cautious single mom escape their histories, or will their hearts land on the chopping block?

  • The Renegade

    The Renegade by Jennifer Bernard

The Renegade by Jennifer Bernard is 99c! This is the third book in the Blackwell Legacy contemporary romance series. I can’t tell if the hero’s chest on the cover is freckled or if it’s a weird splatter effect. This is also a holiday romance, despite outward appearances.

The last thing she expected was a billionaire under the mistletoe …

As a trauma surgeon, Isabelle Rockwell has devoted her life to helping others. Her life is too crazy for romance… despite a powerful attraction to a stranger during an unexpected layover in Italy. But there’s no time to obsess over the mystery man. Recurring dreams of her mother are calling her home to the family lodge, where a surprise guest is staying for the holidays — who else but her airport hottie!

Battling a takeover, billionaire Lyle Guero has been asked by his board of directors to lay low. What better place than Rocky Peak Lodge, his latest silent investment, home to the woman who’s haunted his thoughts since Rome? Independent, fascinating, equally career-focused, she’s the perfect temporary distraction.

But he didn’t count on the holiday spirit, the zany Rockwell family, or the danger lurking in the snowy shadows of the Cascades. How far will two renegade hearts go for a chance at love?

  • Seeing Stars

    Seeing Stars by J. Sterling

Seeing Stars by J. Sterling is $2.99! This new adult romance has a famous popstar hero and the description/reviews hint to an interesting twist. You can find spoilers on Goodreads, if you feel so inclined. However, some readers just felt the romance was too young, if that makes any sense.

What happens when the hottest singer in the country starts pursuing you? New York Times Bestselling Author J. Sterling delivers a sweet and sexy stand alone novel that will set your heart racing and leave you wishing for a love story just like this one!

The last thing Madison Myers wants in her life is singing sensation, Walker Rhodes. His tabloid filled antics don’t mesh with her desire to make a respectable name for herself in LA’s talent industry. She works too hard to be good. Walker seems to do the exact opposite.

But after he pulls her onstage during one of his concerts and serenades her in front of thousands of screaming fans, all bets are off. Madison tries to avoid him, but he won’t stop. She doesn’t want to give in to his charms, but Walker is relentless. He knows something that she doesn’t- something that changes everything between them.

Come fall in love with Walker & Madison in Seeing Stars.

  • Sometimes a Rogue

Sometimes a Rogue by Mary Jo Putney

Sometimes a Rogue by Mary Jo Putney is 99c! This historical romance is part of the Lost Lords series. Based on the description, there seems to be a bonkers false identity plot. However, fans of Putney have said this one isn’t her best.

    Sometimes…

Even the most proper young lady yearns for adventure. But when the very well bred Miss Sarah Clarke-Townsend impulsively takes the place of her pregnant twin, it puts her own life at risk. If the kidnappers after her sister discover they’ve abducted Sarah instead, she will surely pay with her life…

    A Rogue…

Rob Carmichael survived his disastrous family by turning his back on his heritage and becoming a formidable Bow Street Runner with a talent for rescuing damsels in distress. But Sarah is one damsel who is equal to whatever comes. Whether racing across Ireland with her roguish rescuer or throwing herself into his arms, she challenges Rob at every turn.

  1. Batman says:

So, The Renegade cover… is the mistletoe in his pants? What is he staring at in there?

  2. EJ says:

On the one hand, don’t judge a book by its cover. On the other hand, it’s so hard not to.

I appreciate abs as much as anyone else but I’m suffering from ab fatigue. A nice t-shirt works just as well. Not trying to body shame cover models but I’d buy a book where everyone has clothes on.

  3. Scene Stealer says:

I just finished reading Lara Ward Cosio’s series about an Irish rock band called Rogue. I liked it a lot, despite the weird writing style of the author. The first book in the series, “Tangled Up in You” was all over the place with the present and the past being mixed up. I normally would have stopped reading a book like that, but I kept going.

  4. Carole Tolley says:

Ignore the covers – I really enjoyed the Tawna Fenske series – it had charming steamy romances, family bonding and lots of laugh out loud moments. Studmuffin Santa I gave 3 stars to, but the rest of the books in the series were 4 stars of light, sexy entertainment.

  5. Maureen says:

I spent the morning reading Hottie Lumberjack-and I totally enjoyed it!! So much so that I just bought the rest of the series. I absolutely agree with @Carol Tolley-to ignore the covers and get ready for some fun summer reading!!

  6. Ren Benton says:

Friday (May 24), Alissa Johnson’s TEMPTING FATE is free (unfortunately, an Amazon exclusive, sorry). I haven’t read this one yet, but I’ve liked everything else of hers I’ve ever read. She’s reliable for women who have plans, men who aren’t assholes, and a fair dose of humor.

It’s the second book in a series, but I’ve read two of her other series completely out of order without any memorable difficulties, so I would guess this one is pretty safe on its own. If not, the first book, AS LUCK WOULD HAVE IT, is regularly priced at only $2.99.
