  • The Vixen and the Vet

The Vixen and the Vet by Katy Regnery

READER RECOMMENDED: The Vixen and the Vet by Katy Regnery is $2.99 at Amazon! Several books in Regnery’s Modern Fairytale series are on sale! This contemporary romance was previously nominated for a RITA® in the Long Contemporary category and is a Beauty & the Beast retelling. During the RITA® Reader Challenge, Reader Erica gave the book a B:

I really did enjoy the hell out of this book. I really did. I loved Asher. I liked Savannah, I felt like she and I would be buddies. I was rooting for them together and I fully believe in this happily-ever-after (*cough* even though it happens too quickly *cough*), and I’m sure out there in this fictional world, they are together and doing good things. This was not a magic hoo-ha cures your PTSD story, and for that I am grateful.

In this modern-retelling of “Beauty and the Beast,” Savannah Carmichael, betrayed by an unreliable source, returns to her hometown of Danvers, Virginia with her once-promising journalism career in ruins. Given the opportunity to get back in the game by writing a patriotic human interest piece, Savannah turns her attention to the town hermit, Asher Lee, a wounded veteran who returned to Danvers eight years ago, and hasn’t been seen since.

After an IED explosion in Afghanistan took Asher’s hand and disfigured half of his face, he’s lived a quiet life on the outskirts of Danvers where the locals respect his privacy…that is, until Savannah Carmichael comes calling in a borrowed sundress with a plate of homemade brownies. When Asher agrees to be interviewed by Savannah, he starts feeling things for the beautiful reporter that he hasn’t felt in years.

Misfits in small-town Danvers, Savannah and Asher create a bond right away, touching each other’s hearts in ways neither thought possible. When a terrible mistake threatens to drive them apart, they’ll have to decide if the love they found in one another’s arms is strong enough to fight for their hard-won happily ever after.

  • Getaway Girl

    Getaway Girl by Tessa Bailey

Getaway Girl by Tessa Bailey is $2.99! This is a standalone contemporary romance and one that I’m excited about because I absolutely love Charleston, SC. It’s sitting on my Kindle as we speak! Some readers were conflicted about the fact that the hero was indeed ready to marry his fiance before everything went tits up. But I also recommend Bailey for people who love hot sex scenes and dirty talking.

This unlikely getaway driver never expected to help the mayor escape…

After a six-year absence, Addison Potts is back in Charleston to stir things up. And what better place to make her villainous return than her estranged cousin’s wedding? Only, the nuptials hit a snag when the bride doesn’t show, leaving Addison to play getaway driver for the jilted groom. A groom whose heartbreaking smile and deep, southern drawl she should not be noticing…

Elijah Montgomery Du Pont is the future mayor of Charleston. From his military career to city hall, every detail of his life has been meticulously planned. Until now. His only respite from life’s sudden upheaval is Addison, his new, improbable best friend. She makes him happy. Grounds him. And public disapproval be damned, he’s not willing to give her up. But with an election on the line and public pressure rising, Addison—and the cruel hand of fate—might not give him a choice.

  • Lord of Regrets

Lord of Regrets by Sabrina Darby

Lord of Regrets by Sabrina Darby is 99c! This is a historical romance that seems more on the angsty side of things. It’s also the first book in the Group of Eight series. Readers say the hero did some things that required some major redemption, though some felt they didn’t really get the full redemption arc they wanted. Have you read this one?

Despite the love and sensuous addiction they shared, Lord Marcus Templeton could never marry Natasha Polinoff. Not while he remained under his grandfather’s vise-like control. But when Natasha announces her out-of-wedlock pregnancy – which would destroy his inheritance – Templeton explodes into a rage. One that sends Natasha running into the unforgiving night, never to return…

Now five years have passed, and Lord Templeton has finally found his beloved. And this time, the viscount will have her.

However, Natasha has settled into a new life with her young daughter. Lord Templeton’s arrival fills her with terrible fear… and undeniable longing. He has come to claim her. Yet even as her body still longs for his touch, her anger still burns. She is no mere possession. But Lord Templeton will do whatever it takes to bring her back into his arms and back into his bed. Even if it means resorting to blackmail to make Natasha his wife.

  • Royal Attraction

    Royal Attraction by Tiffany Truitt

Royal Attraction by Tiffany Truitt is 99c! This is a standalone contemporary romance with a royal hero. Readers clarify that while the description makes it sound like there’s a love triangle, there really isn’t. The heroine grew up in love with one royal brother and while attending his wedding years later, falls in love with the troublesome brother. I think I have that right.

Alexandra Ryans’s life has been anything but normal. Some might even call it a fairy tale. As the daughter of the former U.S. ambassador to England, she grew up within the palace walls, best friends with the three young princes. Adored by the press and the British people. What more could a girl want?

If only the press knew the real story behind her relationships with the Dudley boys. Then, they’d really sell some papers.

Oliver Dudley, youngest son and third in line for the throne, loves everything about his life. The fame. The parties. The women. The utter lack of expectations and responsibilities that come with being last in the line of succession. But while the world thinks he has everything he wants, there’s one thing he was never able to call his own—the beautiful and spunky American Aly Ryans. But how can he convince her when she hates everything about his life? And what is he willing to give up to get her?

Drat. The Vixen and the Vet isn’t on sale in Canada, so I guess it needs to stay on my wish list…

  2. ReneeG says:

It looks like Aly’s head (at least I think it is Aly’s) on the cover of “Royal Attraction” is smaller than Oliver’s (Ollie?). I find strangely off-putting and am wandering the office looking at various men and women’s heads to see if this is a thing . . . .

  3. Yota says:

Shes definitely shopped in, the shadows and the quality of the light is all wrong. It’s harsh on his face creating an almost washed out area while it’s softer on hers as tho a diffuser was used for the flash.

  4. kira says:

You guys, Getaway Girl is AMAZING. I find that Tessa Bailey’s heroes can be really alike, but this hero is so great. Ugh, I love this book so much.

  5. Katie C. says:

I really liked the Vixen and the Vet – it has cute nods to the Disney version of the story – and great chemistry between the hero and heroine.

Also am I the only one who thought of an economic summit when I saw that Lord of Regrets is part of a series called Group of Eight?
