HaBO: Heroine is a Grandmother in the Epilogue

This HaBO comes from Jordan, who is looking for a historical romance. Be warned that spoilers are below:

I’ve been stuck on this one for the past few days and I’m hoping that someone can confirm that this is a real book and not some kind of fever dream I had.

I started to read this book, then for some reason ended up skimming the epilogue and never going back and finishing the rest of the book. It was a historical and I want to say written if not fairly recently, then in last five years.

I remember the heroine was now much older and walking with her grandson in the park when she sees a man she was betrothed to earlier in the book. There was also a letter to him from her where she basically says that he’s old and bitter and that money isn’t everything, and how she’s happy that she married a man she loves.

And that is all I can remember. I’m hoping having the heroine as a grandmother is distinct enough for someone to recognize it. Or I’m going crazy.

Given how particular we all are about our romance epilogues, I know we’ll solve this one!

I was wrong, it’s not the The Stolen Bride. But, I think in A Mackenzie Clan Gathering there is a scene that is very similar to this. I can’t find my book to check. The grandmother is named Mary.
