  • To Conquer a Scot

To Conquer a Scot by Tamara Gill

To Conquer a Scot by Tamara Gill is 99c! This is the first book in a new time travel historical romance series. I’m not sure if there’s a marriage of convenience element, but there’s some marriage thing going on. And admittedly, I kind of like the cover. I have no idea why.

Time-traveling isn’t what Abigail Cross had in mind for her Scottish vacation, nor was a potential marriage to the Laird Aedan Macleod. The fact that the obnoxious, yet hot, and definitely sexy Highlander sees the world very differently than she does, is beside the point.

Aedan Macleod knows what he wants in a wife, and Abigail certainly doesn’t meet his Highland standard, even though he must rein in his desire, because beautiful, opinionated Abigail would never suit as a laird’s wife.

Tempers flare yet passion is undeniable, as Abby navigates her way through a medieval castle’s day to day life. When two rival clans threaten the maddening twenty-first century minx who’s captured Laird Aedan’s heart, the mighty Highlander is willing to sacrifice everything to keep Abigail safe.

  • A Fashionable Indulgence

A Fashionable Indulgence by KJ Charles

A Fashionable Indulgence by KJ Charles is $1.99! I know Charles’ gay romance is very popular! This is also a romance about class differences. Readers loved the start to a new series, though some felt the romance took a backseat to setting up the next books. It has a 3.9-star rating

In the first novel of an explosive new series from K. J. Charles, a young gentleman and his elegant mentor fight for love in a world of wealth, power, and manipulation.

When he learns that he could be the heir to an unexpected fortune, Harry Vane rejects his past as a Radical fighting for government reform and sets about wooing his lovely cousin. But his heart is captured instead by the most beautiful, chic man he’s ever met: the dandy tasked with instructing him in the manners and style of the ton. Harry’s new station demands conformity—and yet the one thing he desires is a taste of the wrong pair of lips.

After witnessing firsthand the horrors of Waterloo, Julius Norreys sought refuge behind the luxurious facade of the upper crust. Now he concerns himself exclusively with the cut of his coat and the quality of his boots. And yet his protégé is so unblemished by cynicism that he inspires the first flare of genuine desire Julius has felt in years. He cannot protect Harry from the worst excesses of society. But together they can withstand the high price of passion.

  • How to Deceive a Duke

How to Deceive a Duke by Lecia Cornwall

How to Deceive a Duke by Lecia Cornwall is $1.99! This is the first book in the Temberlay series. The heroine replaces her sister after her sister runs off before her wedding day. While readers said it started off great, there were too many things piled on at the end.

    When deception leads to desire…

When her stubborn sister runs off the night before her arranged marriage, Meg Lynton hardly hesitates before donning the wedding veil and walking down the aisle herself. It’s the only way to save her family from sure destitution. By the time her wealthy groom discovers he has married the wrong sister, it will be too late to annul their vows. And too late for Meg to escape her wifely duty to a man reputed to be a devil in battle and the bedroom…

A bride is the last thing Nicholas Hartley, Duke of Temberlay, wants. Then he sees Meg and realizes that his wedding night will be a great pleasure indeed. But aside from the agreeable business of begetting an heir, Temberlay will never change his wicked ways for a wedding vow—until he discovers Meg’s deception, and decides to teach the scheming beauty how to be a proper duchess, kiss by devastating kiss…

  • Alone with Mr. Darcy

Alone with Mr. Darcy by Abigail Reynolds

Alone with Mr. Darcy by Abigail Reynolds is 99c! This is described as a Pride and Prejudice variation. In this one, Elizabeth and Mr. Darcy are stranded in a blizzard. Readers definitely recommend this one on audio, but some P&P fans weren’t fans of the changes. Are you interested in this one?

    Alone with Mr. Darcy….

Elizabeth Bennet can’t imagine anything worse than being stranded by a blizzard in a tiny cottage with proud and unpleasant Mr. Darcy. But being trapped there for days – and nights – with an injured and confused Mr. Darcy who keeps saying the oddest things about her is even worse. At least he possesses the useful ability of lighting a fire to keep them from freezing to death. But when he puts his arms around her, she discovers the hearth isn’t the only place he knows how to build a fire. And the little half-frozen kitten he finds in a woodpile isn’t proving to be much of a chaperone.

She doesn’t really believe his promises to marry her if anyone finds out they spent two nights alone together, especially after learning he was betrayed by another woman in the past. When her worst fears are realized and her reputation is in tatters, she isn’t surprised to discover Mr. Darcy has vanished into thin air, leaving her no choice but to find a husband as soon as possible before her whole family is ruined. Any husband will have to do, no matter how much she dislikes him. Even if she can’t stop thinking of Mr. Darcy….

  1. Tam says:

Oh dear, they lost me at “maddening twenty-first century minx.” Maddening minx? What next, a saucy wench?

  2. Anne says:

I like that cover too! The colors are nice, as is the golden lighting, and the posture is different from what you usually see – it’s all very memorable. Plus the guy’s pretty attractive to me (usually I find the men on romance covers to range from meh to ugh)

  3. San says:

but…his arm muscles are almost as wide as his waist….. 🙁 Actually several bits of him look slightly carelessly photoshopped from differently sized pictures to me… maybe I’m overthinking it though. 🙂

  4. Rose says:

@Tam You know those maddening minxes, always getting up to hijinks with saucy wenches and vivacious vixens on the way to the tempting tart shop.

  5. chacha1 says:

“admittedly, I kind of like the cover. I have no idea why”

HAHAHAHAHA suuuuuure. No idea why that muscle definition + that wind-tossed hair + that “I’m so FRUSTRATED” expression might be appealing.

  6. chacha1 says:

p.s. one-clicked the K.J. Charles. That will be my reward for slogging through “The Path Between the Seas.”

  7. Katie Lynn says:

I really enjoyed the KJ Charles, and was very frustrated at myself for not picking up A Seditious Affair one of the *many* times it’s been featured for $1.99 here. I own the third book, but not the second!

  8. AmyB says:

I misread the post title as, “Daisy Dukes & More.” That first cover, combined with my misreading, sent me on an interesting tangent.

    Thank you ☺️

  9. Sarah S says:

A maddening minx? One is reminded of Terry Pratchett’s line: “I like a girl with spirit,” he said, incorrectly as it turned out.

  10. KateB says:

A FASHIONABLE INDULGENCE isn’t my favorite Charles, that’s A SEDITIOUS AFFAIR, but it does set up the series nicely!

  11. oceanjasper says:

@Katiel Lynn. A Seditious Affair was by far my favourite of the three books. It’s such a meeting of minds and bodies, as the poor radical and the privileged gentleman debate ideas and come to respect each other’s opinions, to the amazement of everyone they know. It’s a bargain at the full price!

  12. KellyM says:

The hair in “To Conquer a Scot” is photoshopped or a really bad wig. Also the lighting is weird for the weather conditions in the background. Ok, while I am nitpicking, his arms have an ever so slight Stretch Armstrong look to them. It could be the just the weird lighting. It gives him a bit of a sallow skin tone. But the abs are perfect as is the kilt 🙂

  13. Sandra says:

@KellyM: He also has something odd going on with his hands. His right hand’s too big, and he seems to be missing most of his left hand.
But… with the wrist bracers and leaning against the tree?, wall?, whatever, if you squint right, there’s almost a bondage vibe there.

  14. KellyM says:

So while I am at it… Alone with Mr. Darcy’s cover appears she has her eyes closed like she is expecting to get kissed and he is taking the opportunity to look down her dress. lol.

@ Sandra I know! Makes me wonder what the original pose was of the cover model. His fore arm looks to short for his sculpted long bicep. Again, I think it could be the lighting that is making it look disproportionate. At least on my screen that is.

  15. Carol S says:

Even accounting for broad shoulders, the KJ Charles guy sure has one very long arm. I bet that comes in handy, though, when one is reaching around.

  16. Katie Lynn says:

Lightning Struck Heart by TJ Klune is currently free. MM paranormal(?) I believe. I read Wolfsong by this same author and enjoyed it.
