Sarah: There’s a deal at AppSumo for WiseStamp Pro right now, which gives you a pretty spiffy email signature that’s very customizable and also nifty. I think so. Here is mine:

Sarah Wendell email signature that says Chief Mastermind at Smart Bitches, Trashy Books

Mine is pretty simple – there are some even more elaborate options available, too.

Wise Stamp Pro is usually $72 a year, but the AppSumo deal is $29 for lifetime access.

(The link is affiliate coded, so if you use it, thank you!)

Also, AppSumo will send daily email messages with deals on different products if you purchase – you can opt out. I’ve purchased a few pieces of software through them and have never had a problem.

  • The Wrath and the Dawn

The Wrath and the Dawn by Renee Ahdieh

The Wrath and the Dawn by Renee Ahdieh is $2.99! This is a Kindle Daily Deal and is being price-matched. The second book is also a KDD! This is a YA fantasy novel with romance elements and is a retelling of A Thousand and One Nights. Readers love the world Ahdieh built, but do mention there seems to be a love triangle in the first book that doesn’t quite work well. It has a 4-star rating on Goodreads.

A sumptuous and epically told love story inspired by A Thousand and One Nights

Every dawn brings horror to a different family in a land ruled by a killer. Khalid, the eighteen-year-old Caliph of Khorasan, takes a new bride each night only to have her executed at sunrise. So it is a suspicious surprise when sixteen-year-old Shahrzad volunteers to marry Khalid. But she does so with a clever plan to stay alive and exact revenge on the Caliph for the murder of her best friend and countless other girls. Shazi’s wit and will, indeed, get her through to the dawn that no others have seen, but with a catch . . . she’s falling in love with the very boy who killed her dearest friend.

She discovers that the murderous boy-king is not all that he seems and neither are the deaths of so many girls. Shazi is determined to uncover the reason for the murders and to break the cycle once and for all.

  • Dirty

    Dirty by Kylie Scott

RECOMMENDEDDirty by Kylie Scott is $1.99! For the most part, I liked this contemporary romance. It had a great blend of romance and humor. It has a great meet-cute and I spent a lot of Las Vegas’ RT line-waiting with my nose stuck in my Kindle to read it. I gave it a B+ in a Lightning Review.

The last thing Vaughan Hewson expects to find when he returns to his childhood home is a broken hearted bride in his shower, let alone the drama and chaos that comes with her.

Lydia Green doesn’t know whether to burn down the church or sit and cry in a corner. Discovering the love of your life is having an affair on your wedding day is bad enough. Finding out it’s with his best man is another thing all together. She narrowly escapes tying the knot and meets Vaughan only hours later.

Vaughan is the exact opposite of the picture perfect, respected businessman she thought she’d marry. This former musician-turned-bartender is rough around the edges and unsettled. But she already tried Mr. Right and discovered he’s all wrong-maybe it’s time to give Mr. Right Now a chance.

After all, what’s wrong with getting dirty?

  • Sustained

    Sustained by Emma Chase

Sustained by Emma Chase is $1.99! I’m tempted to liken this to a fairy tale romance. The hero swears up and down that he’s no Prince Charming, yet he still helps out the heroine and her gaggle of nieces and nephews. The book is well-reviewed on Goodreads with a 4.3-star rating. However, be warned, the book is told from the hero’s POV, which I know isn’t for everyone. I enjoyed this one a lot and gave it a B+.

A knight in tarnished armor is still a knight.

When you’re a defense attorney in Washington, DC, you see firsthand how hard life can be, and that sometimes the only way to survive is to be harder. I, Jake Becker, have a reputation for being cold, callous, and intimidating—and that suits me just fine. In fact, it’s necessary when I’m breaking down a witness on the stand.

Complications don’t work for me—I’m a “need-to-know” type of man. If you’re my client, tell me the basic facts. If you’re my date, stick to what will turn you on. I’m not a therapist or Prince Charming—and I don’t pretend to be.

Then Chelsea McQuaid and her six orphaned nieces and nephews came along and complicated the ever-loving hell out of my life. Now I’m going to Mommy and Me classes, One Direction concerts, the emergency room, and arguing cases in the principal’s office.

Chelsea’s too sweet, too innocent, and too gorgeous for her own good. She tries to be tough, but she’s not. She needs someone to help her, defend her…and the kids.

And that—that, I know how to do.

  • How to Discipline Your Vampire

How to Discipline Your Vampire by Mina Vaughn

How to Discipline Your Vampire by Mina Vaughn is $1.99! This a paranormal erotic romance with a sub vampire hero. This was originally a Twilight fanfic, by the way. Readers definitely say that your enjoyment of this book will depend on how committed to the crazy you are.

In this exciting paranormal erotic romance, a dominant schoolteacher with a serious role-play fetish finds the perfect submissive in an infamous vampire lover.

Cerise Norrell, Type A substitute teacher by day, is ready to quit being a domme. Despite her best intentions, none of her partners can keep up with her scene fetish and attention to detail—let alone her demand that they have a costume and set waiting every afternoon by the time she’s home from school.

Over a dozen potential subs have left her in the past year, but just when Cerise thinks it’s impossible—that she’ll have to go back to vanilla relationships, or be alone forever—she meets William, who wants to make all her fantasies come true. He turns her home into a dream apartment, a concert hall with a grand piano (which he uses to play an original composition while wearing a tuxedo), and even rents an abandoned loft for a zombie apocalypse scene—complete with canned goods.

But there’s something strange about William. Well, a lot of strange things. He must be absurdly rich, since he can afford to provide extravagant costumes and props on a daily basis without having to leave work early. He must be insane, since he puts up with Cerise’s over-the-top demands. And most importantly, he doesn’t redden when he’s spanked, and his skin is as cool as satin sheets. When Cerise discovers she’s become dome to the infamous “Chilly Willy,” as he’s known throughout the BDSM urban lore, she begins to find out there’s a whole lot more to her handsome submissive than a creative mind and a hard body.

And when it’s William, ironically, who starts pressing Cerise to give him the kind of commitment she’s never given anyone, it’ll take everything she has to work through her issues, confront her past, and learn to be vulnerable.

  1. Jacq says:

I really, really liked Dirty. And this appearing here reminded me to go look and see if Kylie Scott has anything new I haven’t read, and she does, so, yay!

I assume that’s part of the point of putting backlist titles on sale.

  2. Cristie says:

Omg I’ve been waiting for the Emma Chase to go on sale for ages–off to one-click!

  3. Ren Benton says:

@Jacq: Most of the point, to be honest. Put the final book in a series on your wish list and you’ll grow old waiting for it to go on sale.

  4. Darlynne says:

I loved Emma Chase’s SUSTAINED. Of all her “heroes,” Jake is the most fun, the least infuriating, because he really, truly tries. It pains me to say it, but except for Brent in APPEALED, I can’t stand the others.

  5. Dora says:

I picked up both Renee Ahdieh books impulsively. The setting and mystery twist sound super cool. A good mystery woven into another genre is such a treat, especially if they can pull off the “*GASP* NO. WAY.” reveal in a way that has you going “Oooooh” and realizing all the sneaky clues there were.

  6. Ren Benton says:

This might have been mentioned recently (or it might have been a different author whose book I clicked only to discover I’d already bought it–the memory, it is bad in so many ways), but EVERYTHING by Vivienne Lorret is currently either $1.99 or $2.99 (even last in series!).

  7. Konst. says:

Sci-fi recommendation: The Long Way to an Angry Small Planet is $99 at Amazon!! This book is amazing! Go get it!

  8. Darlynne says:

Amazon UK readers: The first five of Joanna Bourne’s spymaster series are on sale for .99 to 1.99. *swoon* You can get all six for 12.96. Hopefully, Amazon US will follow.

Seconding Konst’s recommendation of Becky Chambers’ first book. One of my keepers.

  9. C.F. says:

@ Konst. THANK YOU!! I love this series so much I keep checking the books out from my library.

Re: The Wrath and the Dawn: I read it. I have feelings. I get that it’s a retelling but I could not get past my NOPE. The hero killing ALL THE GIRLS becoming the love interest. I just. Nope. Nope, nope, and some more nope.

  10. Susan says:

OK, I’m kinda tempted to get that Mina Vaughn book because of the “Chilly Willy” nickname/double entendre. (I can be so immature.)

  11. Jacq says:

    @Ren Benton

I’m a library ebook reader, so I don’t actually care about the sale price — but I add a lot of books to my library queue based on these sale threads!

  12. I avoid 1st person like it’s a leprosy diaper, but I’ll be damned if I’m not at least intrigued to try reading a romance from the hero’s POV.

I’ve never read such a dodad, AND I AM SO TEMPTED. Somebody stop me.

  13. June says:

@Jacqueline I’m not going to stop you because I really enjoyed that book! Thumbs up for Sustained.
