Links: Podcasts, Nora Roberts, & Colson Whitehead

Workspace with computer, journal, books, coffee, and glasses. It’s the last Wednesday in February! Where has this month gone? Seriously! Hope everyone has been having a good week. I have a major book hangover this morning, so I know I’ll be spending a lot of time starting listlessly at my TBR pile.

Is Colson Whitehead’s The Underground Railroad on your reading list? Do you love audiobooks? Well you’re in luck because you can listen to it for free! According to The Huffington Post, the book will be narrated in ten parts by actor Clarke Peters (The Wire).

To coincide with Wonder Woman‘s movie release, Mattel is releasing a line of Wonder Woman toys. The toys feature Wonder Woman in several different costumes, plus figurines of secondary characters and horses (!!). Thanks to author Jennifer Estep for sending the link our way!

Like podcasts? Like books? Knockin’ Books has a great list of podcasts for booklovers! We’re listed and in some pretty great company! If you have some recommendations for book related podcasts that didn’t make the list, tell us in the comments!

Want to hear Nora Roberts get quizzed on J.D. Salinger? NPR has you covered! There’s a ten-minute audio, but if you’re not in a position to listen, there’s a transcript as well!

Battery chargers!

Every few months a bigger, better, and lighter weight battery charger comes out. At this point I have 3 in various sizes—lipstick sized, 6.5oz, and the 12.5oz, which lives in our travel bag. I can recharge my kids' DS, tablets, my phone, etc, before it runs out of charge. - SW

Lastly, if you have access to Hoopla through your library, IDW’s Love is Love anthology is available to patrons. Each borrow helps raise money for Equality Florida.

Hoopla Digital – a Netflix-like service that partners with libraries across North America, will be the first digital service to bring IDW’S Love is Love to library cardholders for free and in turn, will contribute to Equality Florida via borrows of the comic.

Starting today, patrons of participating libraries can use the hoopla digital app to access Love is Love right on their mobile devices. With this historic collection, the unique 144-page anthology features some of the most iconic characters in pop culture including Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman, Green Lantern and even Harry Potter. Since debuting in comic books shops and bookstores in December, Love is Love has quickly risen to #1 on best-seller lists.

Don’t forget to share what super cool things you’ve seen, read, or listened to this week! And if you have anything you think we’d like to post on a future Wednesday Links, send it my way!

On the NPR podcast for Nora Roberts on Wait, Wait, don’t miss the bonus feature of the titles of her 200-odd books read by an auto-reader. It has some interesting combinations of titles in there….

  2. Susan says:

Dang, I want ALL those WW toys!

For a nice trashing, James Corden really spent his time trashing the “Britney Ever After” biopic on Lifetime. I wonder if it’s partially because the real Britney was on his Carpool Karaoke… https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8_ZheQoyEzI

  4. Carolyn says:

Heh – Nora Roberts is really good at the non-answer.

  5. Kate says:

In addition to the Bitches podcast, Modern Mrs Darcy’s What Should I Read Next and BookRiot’s rec podcast Get Booked are weekly must-listens. Books on the Nightstand has sadly ended, but all their old episodes are still available.

  6. greennily says:

Thanks so much for podcast recs! Just what I wanted!
