Sarah Morgan, Plus Scifi & Paranormal Romances

  • Sleepless in Manhattan

Sleepless in Manhattan by Sarah Morgan

Sleepless in Manhattan by Sarah Morgan is 99c! This is a Kindle Daily Deal and is being matched elsewhere. Yay! This is the first book in a new series and readers loved how fun it was and note there’s some pretty great female friendships. However, others mention slow pacing and the lackluster chemistry between the hero and heroine.

USA TODAY bestselling author Sarah Morgan introduces a sizzling new trilogy about three best friends embracing life—and love—in Manhattan

Cool, calm and competent, events planner Paige Walker loves a challenge. After a childhood spent in and out of hospitals, she’s now determined to prove herself—and where better to take the world by storm than in the exhilarating bustle of Manhattan? But when Paige is let go from the job she loves, she must face her biggest challenge of all—going it alone.

Except launching her own events company is nothing compared to hiding her outrageous crush on Jake Romano—her brother’s best friend, New York’s most in-demand date, and the only man to break her heart. When Jake offers Paige’s fledgling company a big chance, their still-sizzling chemistry starts giving her sleepless nights. But can she convince the man who trusts no one to take a chance on forever?

  • Queen of Swords

Queen of Swords by Katee Robert

Queen of Swords by Katee Robert is 99c! This is a scifi romance with an royal arranged marriage the heroine is desperately trying to get out of, leading her into the hands of the hero. This has been on my TBR pile for a bit now and readers compared the atmosphere to Firefly. However, others felt the ending didn’t feel fully realized and happened too abruptly. Have you read this one?

When the cards tell Ophelia Leoni she’s supposed to marry the Prince of Hansarda, the gunrunner grits her teeth and boards the starship that comes for her. It doesn’t matter if the ship’s commander is the gorgeous stranger whose bed she just spent a wild, drunken night in. As a Diviner, she’s painfully aware the cards don’t lie. Ever.

Boone O’Keirna knows Ophelia is trouble the second he sees the way she moves. Not about to let the deadly little hellcat marry his sadistic half-brother, Boone pretends to be the Prince’s emissary and kidnaps Ophelia. Too bad they can’t be in the same room without him wanting to throw her out an airlock–or into bed.

Even as they fight each other–and their explosive attraction–Ophelia and Boone sense something is wrong. Too much is going their way. Soon, they realize while the cards may never lie, the truth is sometimes hidden between them…and the future king of Hansarda is not one to take defeat lying down.

  • North of Need

North of Need by Laura Kaye

North of Need by Laura Kaye is 99c! This is a holiday paranormal romance with forced proximity and the heroine nursing the hero back to health. Sound like catnip to anyone? Many readers loved getting to know the heroine, but some found the book to be pretty underwhelming at times despite what it had going for it. It has a 3.9-star rating on Goodreads.

Her tears called a powerful snow god to life, but only her love can grant the humanity he craves…

Desperate to escape agonizing memories of Christmas past, twenty-nine-year-old widow Megan Snow builds a snow family outside the mountain cabin she once shared with her husband, realizing too late that she’s recreated the very thing she’ll never have.

Called to life by Megan’s tears, snow god Owen Winters appears unconscious on her doorstep in the midst of a raging blizzard. As she nurses him to health, Owen finds unexpected solace in her company and unimagined pleasure in the warmth of her body, and vows to win her heart for a chance at humanity.

Megan is drawn to Owen’s mismatched eyes, otherworldly masculinity, and enthusiasm for the littlest things. But this Christmas miracle comes with an expiration—before the snow melts and the temperature rises, Megan must let go of her widow’s grief and learn to trust love again, or she’ll lose Owen forever.

  • The Queen’s Wings

The Queen’s Wings by Jamie Schmidt

The Queen’s Wings by Jamie K. Schmidt is 99c! Sarah was reading this on a previous Whatcha Reading and here’s what she had to say:

There are dragons! Dragons all over the place. And the women are being confined by a curse so there are five total female dragons in the world, who are worshipped like queens and get to have sex with whomever they want though they are expected to birth dragons to continue the species and all. It’s first person, so there’s sarcasm and goofiness, and it’s not dark and emotional and scary, which is exactly what I need.

Long ago, the Cult of Humanity sacrificed the Dragon Queen, crippling the breeding process. But now Carolyn hears the voice of that long dead queen telling her that she holds the key to breaking the spell that will free all the female dragons.

FBI dragon Reed’s disdain for humans can’t mask the magnetic attraction he has for Carolyn, but when she tells him she’s going to shift into a dragon he thinks she’s crazy. A female hasn’t been hatched, or shape shifted, in over a thousand years.

He’s proven wrong after Carolyn shifts and is named the new Queen on the block. A never-ending line of suitors forms, but she only wants Reed. Too bad he doesn’t want in on the competition. But when the Cult kidnaps Carolyn to sacrifice her in an effort to make the curse against the female dragons permanent, Reed must face his fears—and feelings, racing to save the woman he realizes he can’t live without.

  2. Molly says:

I really liked Sleepless in Manhattan! In fact, it caused me to go on a pretty epic Sarah Morgan bender, which was aided by that huge Harlequin sale.

  3. Diana says:

He’s a snow god and his name is Owen Winters? REALLY?

  4. JenM says:

I’m a sucker for anything dragon and I really liked The Queen’s Wings as well as the following book, The Queen’s Flight. Haven’t read the third book yet but I’ll get to it eventually….

The Queen’s Wings is on sale as part of a “Halloween Spook-tacular” sale in the Entangled Covet and Ignite lines which focus on PNR and SFRomance. There are about 25 books on sale for $0.99. I think most are the first in a series.

  5. Janice says:

I one-clicked Sarah Morgan’s book the minute I saw this post. Thanks so much!

  6. Marci says:

The first and second book of Shelly Laurenston’s Call of Crows series are on sale. The first book, The Unleashing, is $1.99. Book two, The Undoing, is $2.99 on Amazon and KOBO. I know SB Sarah is a big fan of the series. I believe it was one she recommended in the recent Female Friendships post.
