Romantic Suspense, Sarina Bowen, & More!

  • Bittersweet

    Bittersweet by Sarina Bowen

Bittersweet by Sarina Bowen is 99c at Amazon! It doesn’t seem to be a Kindle Daily Deal, so hopefully it’ll start being price-matched. I’ve heard great things about this book and it has a 4.1-star rating on Goodreads. Readers loved the writing and sense of place created, but others found there to be too much farm talk and a lackluster romance. Have you read this one?

The new series is set in Vermont. True North is populated by the tough, outdoorsy mountain men that populate the Green Mountain State. They raise cows and they grow apples. They chop a lot of wood, especially when they need to blow off steam. (Beards are optional but encouraged.)

If you can’t stand the heat, get out of the orchard.

The last person Griffin Shipley expects to find stuck in a ditch on his Vermont country road is his ex-hookup. Five years ago they’d shared a couple of steamy nights together. But that was a lifetime ago.

At twenty-seven, Griff is now the accidental patriarch of his family farm. Even his enormous shoulders feel the strain of supporting his mother, three siblings and a dotty grandfather. He doesn’t have time for the sorority girl who’s shown up expecting to buy his harvest at half price.

Vermont was never in Audrey Kidder’s travel plans. Neither was Griff Shipley. But she needs a second chance with the restaurant conglomerate employing her. Okay—a fifth chance. And no self-righteous lumbersexual farmer will stand in her way.

They’re adversaries. They want entirely different things from life. Too bad their sexual chemistry is as hot as Audrey’s top secret enchilada sauce, and then some.

  • Under the Wire

Under the Wire by HelenKay Dimon

Under the Wire by HelenKay Dimon is $1.99! Elyse loves this series and this is the fourth book in the Undercover Bad Boys series. Readers thought the balance of romance and suspense was spot on, but others felt the book added too many components to the suspense aspect and it got a little muddled. Any Dimon fans in the Bitchery?

The Bad Boys of the Alliance—a top-secret military security agency—are back for more in HelenKay Dimon’s sexy, action-packed series

Only one thing could pull Reid Armstrong away from a vacation he’s earned with every muscle in his finely honed body—learning that his former fiancée has disappeared on a top-secret science expedition in the middle of nowhere. Second chances don’t come often in Reid’s business, and he needs to prove his worth to Cara Layne or die trying.

Waking up to find her camp destroyed and her colleagues missing, Cara is a walking target. She can’t trust anyone, least of all Reid. Even if his skills get them out alive, he’s a heartache waiting to strike twice. Yet being in close proximity proves their connection burns hotter than ever.

The body count is rising, the enemy is getting closer, and soon Reid will be right back in the position that cost him everything—forced to choose between the woman he loves, and the job that’s his only hope of saving them both . . .

  • No Exit

    No Exit by Lena Diaz

No Exit by Lena Diaz is $1.99! This is the second book in the EXIT Inc. series and features an enemies-to-lovers romances and a false identity. This can be read as a standalone and readers loved the hero. However, others found the heroine bordered on TSTL territory. It has a 3.9-star rating on Goodreads.

Lena Diaz returns to the thrilling world of EXIT Inc., with two enemies who become unlikely allies—and discover that only through love can they save each other…

As an agent of the Equalizers, Jace Atwell will risk everything to destroy EXIT Inc., the corrupt antiterrorist group, before more innocent lives are lost. The only way to infiltrate EXIT is by getting close to the CEO’s beautiful daughter, but when they get a little too close, Jace finds himself falling for the woman he is duty-bound to deceive.

Whatever clandestine activities EXIT is involved in, Melissa Cardenas refuses to believe that her father is responsible and is determined to prove it. So when sexy, smooth-talking Jace comes clean about his motives, Melissa drops a bombshell of her own: she’s been investigating too—and she wants to help him find the truth.

The chemistry between Melissa and Jace is undeniable, but their opposing views of justice make teamwork tricky. With their lives on the line—and the truth something neither of them expected—the only way to survive will be to trust their hearts and each other . . . if they can.

  • Blame It on Bath

Blame It on Bath by Caroline Linden

Blame It on Bath by Caroline Linden is $2.99! This is a historical romance with a bit of a marriage of convenience trope. While readers seemed to love the chemistry between the hero and heroine of the book, they wished that more of the book went toward solving the mystery of the plot. It has a 3.8-star rating on Goodreads.

Gerard de Lacey is determined to find the man who tried to blackmail his late father, both to stop the blackmail and to discover—and dispose of—any evidence the villain has about his father’s clandestine first marriage. If that proof is made public, it could prove Gerard and his brothers illegitimate, and strip them of their inheritance. And just in case, Gerard intends to find himself a wealthy bride. One way or another, he’s not going to be left destitute. But he’s not expecting a rich widow to find him and ask him to marry her.

Katherine Howe’s first marriage was one of dreary duty, arranged by her wealthy father to a penniless lord. Now that she’s being pressured to marry her late husband’s heir, she’s desperately in search of a better option. Gerard de Lacey, with his sinful good looks, charming manner, and looming scandal fits her needs perfectly. The fact that she’s nursed a secret affection for him for years only makes it better—and worse. Because Gerard will marry her, for her fortune—but will he love her for herself, as she loves him?

I enjoyed ‘Bittersweet.’ There WAS a lot about cider making but I found it more interesting than distracting. And now I want to visit Vermont!!

  3. chacha1 says:

for “kickass women in history” fans, “The Secret History of the Mongol Queens” is $1.99 for Kindle today. 🙂

  4. Gigi says:

I enjoyed Bittersweet and the second book in the series Steadfast even more. I have liked all of her books. Sarina Bowen is all that is awesome.

  5. Nikki says:

Going to read it now… I’m loving all the foodie books. Loved Alice Clayton ‘Nuts’, but just can’t bring myself to pay $11.99 for the next book 🙁

  6. Katie Lynn says:

Bittersweet is great, but the next book is FANTASTIC. According to the author, the second book was written first, and she decided to go back and flesh in the places mentioned in it, which is Bittersweet.

Bittersweet will be $1 at ibooks starting tomorrow, and should be the same price everywhere very soon. The third book will be up for order soon, which is why Sarina put it on sale.

  7. Great deals! I’ve been meaning to read Bittersweet. It sounds so good!

  8. Jen says:

I really enjoyed the Dimon book. Some of the other books in the series didn’t work for me, but that one really did. It’s a second chance love story and I really appreciated that both parties made some poor choices and had a lot of complicated emotions to work through. Good stuff. I like the Diaz series too, though somehow I think I missed reading this one.

  9. Vicki says:

I really liked Blame it on Bath. It was fun.

  10. Theresa says:

I loved Bitersweet. When I first saw this I was hoping it was Sarina Bowen’s new series but alas, I’ll have to wait for that price to drop.

I also liked the whole Blame it on Bath series. I’ll have to reread those…if I can find them…I think I bought them prekindle.

  11. Courtney says:

Bittersweet has all the fixings of my type of read – small town family romantic drama? Yes plz! It reminds me of Mark Calde’s latest story of love, Bascomville, which recently got me back into the romance genre after being hooked on dystopian sic-fi. Found Bascomville here on the author’s website (http://bascomville.myshopify.com) after my mom recommended it to me because I “needed a break from star trek fiction” lol! I’m a sucker for contemporary romance novels like this with complicated family dynamics, so I’ll have to download this next.
