Help A Bitch Out - SOLVED!

HaBO: Late Husband Patronus

You did it! We figured this one out! It is a truth universally acknowledged (by me for certain) that the Bitchery pretty much knows everything, and really, it's true. Scroll down to see the solution for this HaBO - and many thanks!

This HaBO is from Kelsey, who wants to find this contemporary romance:

I’m looking for a book about a nurse whose husband died in what I believe was a car accident – and she kept seeing him around after the fact, reincarnated as a deer or stag. They had a cat together. She was described as “average” or “plain” while he was super handsome and sweet, and there were flashbacks to how they met/courted/married, etc.

After the accident, she starts running and going to the gym where she meets a guy, who I think was a trainer there, but it’s been a while and I may be misremembering things…

It feels itchy to think of something like this and not be able to find it, so if anyone can help out, please do!

Does anyone remember this book?

I can’t help but I wanted to say that I read the question first, thought “so he came back as patronus?” and then the title, which made me laugh. Hope it will jog someone’s memory.

  2. Kara says:

It’s probably not this, but the details sound like a mix of two of Marian Keyes’ Walsh Girl novels. Anybody Out There is Anna’s story, and she’s dealing with a dead husband (but memory issues from the accident make her unable to realize that?). Lots of flashbacks and confused memories. She thinks she sees him from time to time. Then in Watermelon, Claire Walsh’s husband leaves her in the delivery room and she winds up dating a personal trainer from the gym.

I’ve read this book and now can’t remember the name! It’s going to drive me crazy now.

Let Her Go by M.R. Pritchard

  5. Carol S says:

Thank goodness. All I could remember was a Fantasy Island episode where one of the Gabor sisters has the ghost of her late husband helping her pick the next husband…

  6. Gloriamarie says:

No idea. Curious t find out.

  7. Kelsey says:

Emily, thank you so much! It’s been driving me bonkers for the past few months and you’ve saved me. Thank you 🙂
