Act Like It
RECOMMENDED: Act Like It by Lucy Parker is $2.99 at Amazon! Hopefully, it’ll be price-matched elsewhere. Sarah says, “I mean, I could squee at you some MORE beyond my review but I think you’ve heard me already. I loved this book. You should read it. It’s delightful.”
This just in: romance takes center stage as West End theatre’s Richard Troy steps out with none other than castmate Elaine Graham
Richard Troy used to be the hottest actor in London, but the only thing firing up lately is his temper. We all love to love a bad boy, but Richard’s antics have made him Enemy Number One, breaking the hearts of fans across the city.
Have the tides turned? Has English rose Lainie Graham made him into a new man?
Sources say the mismatched pair has been spotted at multiple events, arm in arm and hip to hip. From fits of jealousy to longing looks and heated whispers, onlookers are stunned by this blooming romance.
Could the rumors be right? Could this unlikely romance be the real thing? Or are these gifted stage actors playing us all?

One Night Promised
One Night Promised by Jodi Ellen Malpas is $1.99! This is the first book in the One Night series, which follows the same couple. It’s erotic contemporary romance, and it has a 4.1-star average. Readers who liked it loved the slow development and the intensity of the attraction between the characters.
ONE NIGHT WILL NEVER BE ENOUGH . . .
Livy notices him the moment he walks into the coffee shop. He’s heart-stoppingly stunning, with a blue-eyed gaze so piercing she’s almost too distracted to take his order. When he walks out the door, she thinks she’ll never see him again. Then she finds the note he left on his napkin . . . signed M.
All he wants is one night to worship her. No feelings, no commitment, nothing but pleasure. Every defense mechanism Livy has adopted during her solitary life is at risk of being obliterated by this confounding man. He’s obnoxious but well-mannered. He’s a gentleman but aloof. He’s passionate but emotionless. Yet the fascination is so powerful, Livy can’t deny him . . . or herself.
M awakens something in Livy, something deep and addictive that she never knew existed-and that she fears only he can satisfy. But she senses that behind the fast cars, fancy suits, and posh apartment, he’s aching inside. To have him, body and soul, she’ll have to brave his dark secrets. Delving into his world and breaking down his defenses become her obsession-an obsession that could shatter her heart beyond repair.

Drive Me Crazy
Drive Me Crazy by Tracy Wolff is 99c! This is an enemies-to-lovers, second chance contemporary romance with two musician main characters. Readers loved the heroine’s emotional journey after a car accident that ruins her future as a pianist. While others wished there was more dialogue and less inner monologue-ing. Have you read this one?
A sexy category romance from Entangled’s Brazen imprint…
His rival’s in his bed, and this rocker is ready to play.
Former rivals Quinn Bradford and Elise McKinney are not friends, at least not anymore. As teens, all they cared about was psyching each other out before concerts. But when Quinn—now the keyboardist for Shaken Dirty, the hottest rock band on the scene—returns to his hometown and hears about the car accident that shattered Elise’s career, he’s determined to make things right.
Elise wants nothing to do with an arrogant rock star, despite how bad she so clearly wants him, so Quinn kidnaps the stubborn little piano player and whisks her back to his mansion. A little seduction might be just the thing to keep Elise under his care…and in his bed. But amid pranks both childish and very adult, their past comes rearing back to haunt them. And it might be more than either of them can forget.

One Week in Wyoming
One Week in Wyoming is 99c! This is a contemporary romance anthology by four romance authors. All the heroines are writers who meet up with the friends of the host’s husband. Many readers loved the characters, but say their interest in the romance varied based on the different stories’ writing styles.
Four couples, seven hot winter nights…
When best-selling romance author Joan Halliday invites four single female writers to stay at her family’s luxurious Wyoming lodge, she’s counting on a quiet week of bonding on the slopes and in the spa.
Bruce Halliday was looking forward to a relaxing reunion with his college buddies in the wilds of Wyoming…but when his wife’s group meets Bruce’s unattached friends, the sparks start to fly.
Four stories by Alexis Anne, Audra North, Julia Kelly, and Alexandra Haughton heat up the page in one sexy anthology.
Undressing Cara by Alexis Anne
Eli Pierce is Seattle’s most eligible bachelor. He’s sexy, rich, arrogant…and completely wrong for Cara Sinclair—not that it stopped her from using him as the inspiration for her latest best-selling novel. In fiction, she stripped away everything she didn’t like about Eli, and replaced it with the makings of a true romantic hero. There’s only one problem: Cara has no idea she’s about to spend a week with the real Eli Pierce at her friend’s Wyoming lodge—and in a unexpected twist, Eli’s had a crush on Cara all this time. What happens when Cara learns that Eli is a lot more like her fictional hero than the man in the tabloids? Can a week in the snow turn two long-distance crushes into true love? There’s One Week in Wyoming to find out!
Off-Piste by Audra North
Leah Christos is about to give up on her dream of becoming a writer because she’s afraid of taking chances. Quitting her job to write full time is simply too risky. Jasper Brandt is looking for excitement to liven up his dull life. He’s the last person that safe-loving Leah should be hooking up with. But when they get together at their friends’ Wyoming lodge, they might end up taking the greatest chance of all…Seduction in the Snow by Julia Kelly
Lydia Reed’s had her heart stomped on one too many times, so when the gorgeous, glasses-wearing Evan Sullivan winds up at the same Wyoming lodge as her she sees the chance for the a short, hot fling with a definite end date. There’s only one problem: Evan. He might have agreed to their just-for-fun romance, but just a few days with her and he wants more. Now he must convince the headstrong writer that falling for him is worth the risk.Love is Here to Stay by Alexandra Haughton
Romance writer Callie Emerson can’t resist a good story or a good secret, so when she finds herself more interested in unlocking a surly rancher’s secrets than in making her deadline, she knows she’s in big trouble. Win Carter is too busy resuscitating his family’s legacy to invest time in a relationship, especially one with his sister’s spoiled society friend. And though she has her head in the clouds while his feet are rooted firmly in the ground, maybe one week in Wyoming is all it will take to start writing their own happily ever after.Add to Goodreads To-Read List →

I’ve read ‘Act Like It’ three times now, whenever I get a cold. It is the perfect light romance for when you’re not feeling terrific and you can’t face your brain hurting – reminds me a bit of Jilly Cooper’s 1970s romances like ‘Harriet’.
It doesn’t hurt if you imagine Richard Armitage the whole way through either.
“Act Like It” is one of my favorite reads so far this year. It is wonderful.
Indigo by Beverly Jenkins is for $2.99 on Amazon.
Act Like It is a great read, everyone is raving about The Hating Game, but I enjoyed Parker’s book so much more, Elaine and Richard were fabulous.
Artistic License by Elle Pierson, otherwise known as (or writing as) Lucy Parker, is 99 cents on Amazon. An excellent book. I enjoyed it as much as Act Like It.
One Night Promised sounded interesting but reviews indicate it has a cliffhanger. I hate stories that get dragged out over three books. And add my squee to Act Like It. It was such a fun book to read.
@Julie Thank you! I’ve been curious about Indigo since the podcast interview with Beverly Jenkins.
Anyone in the mood for snarky, snarly, hilarious, hot, smexy, kickass, and unapologetically violent shifters who’d rather not be inconvenienced with their fated mates? Suzanne Wright’s Phoenix Pack series is $1 each on kindle…and they whispersync. (I like to read the kindle edition and then listen to the Audible edition as a comfort read and because they’re just that entertaining.)
Thanks for the heads up @wkw! I didn’t realize that was the same author… and it’s free on KU, which means I have a book to curl up with tonight
I read Act Like it on the recommendation ofSmartBitches and I’m so grateful for their advice. It was absolutely delightful. best romance I’ve read in a long time and likewise artistic license by the same author. My biggest frustration now is that I have no idea if this author will be coming out with another book anytime soon. Anybody know??
Artistic License is currently free on Amazon. 🙂
Really ‘Drives me Crazy’ – their past “comes rearing back at them”? Sounds painful. Eyeroll.
This strikes me as a really hack title as well. Hack title plus publisher unprepared to copy edit EVEN THE COVER BLURB? I am so out.
@Helena: Thanks–that’s the perfect price to pay!
@Alexa – Yes, Lucy Parker’s next book, Pretty Face, is out in November 2016.
@Tam: good call on the Richard Armitage visualization. Actually, I ended up visualizing his North & South costar (Daniela Denby-Ashe) as Lainie too. 🙂
