  • The Unleashing

    The Unleashing by Shelly Laurenston

RECOMMENDED: The Unleashing by Shelly Laurenston is $1.99! Yeah, you’re reading that right. If you were at RT, Sarah squeed about this so hard, so thanks to everyone who told us about this sale. And she did a little drive by squee during a review for the second book, The Undoing:

Feared Viking blacksmith (of sorts) in the Raven clan has a massive crush on a former Marine who is reborn as a Crow. (Bonus: Ravens giving him shit about his crush, and his ability to admit easily that he really likes her: ALL the thumbs, all of them up.)

The second book is also on sale for $2.99!

    WINGING IT

Kera Watson never expected to face death behind a Los Angeles coffee shop. Not after surviving two tours lugging an M16 around the Middle East. If it wasn’t for her hot Viking customer showing up too late to help, nobody would even see her die.

In uncountable years of service to the Allfather Odin, Ludvig “Vig” Rundstöm has never seen anyone kick ass with quite as much style as Kera. He knows one way to save her life—but she might not like it. Signing up with the Crows will get Kera a new set of battle buddies: cackling, gossiping, squabbling, party-hearty women. With wings. So not the Marines.

But Vig can’t give up on someone as special as Kera. With a storm of oh-crap magic speeding straight for L.A., survival will depend on combining their strengths: Kera’s discipline, Vig’s loyalty… and the Crows’ sheer love of battle. Boy, are they in trouble.

  • Fortune Favors the Wicked

Fortune Favors the Wicked by Theresa Romain

RECOMMENDED: Fortune Favors the Wicked by Theresa Romain is $1.99! There’s a treasure hunt, a blind hero, and a former courtesan heroine. Talk about catnip! Redheadedgirl gave this an A grade in a Lightning Review:

What I found the most interesting about this book was how the blind hero was written. He hadn’t always been blind – he was struck by a disease while he was in the Navy – and the narrative describes with abundant detail how he moves through a world he can’t see, but he still perceives. And I really appreciated that she doesn’t magically cure him of his blindness. Love doesn’t cure all things, and this is a part of who he is now.

    INDECENTLY LUCKY

As a lieutenant in the Royal Navy, Benedict Frost had the respect of every man on board—and the adoration of the women in every port. When injury ends his naval career, the silver-tongued libertine can hardly stomach the boredom. Not after everything—and everyone—he’s experienced. Good thing a new adventure has just fallen into his lap…

When courtesan Charlotte Perry learns the Royal Mint is offering a reward for finding a cache of stolen gold coins, she seizes the chance to build a new life for herself. As the treasure hunt begins, she realizes her tenacity is matched only by Benedict’s—and that sometimes adversaries can make the best allies. But when the search for treasure becomes a discovery of pleasure, they’ll be forced to decide if they can sacrifice the lives they’ve always dreamed of for a love they’ve never known…

  • Magnate

    Magnate by Joanna Shupe

RECOMMENDEDMagnate by Joanna Shupe is $1.99! This historical romance takes place in the Gilded Age of New York, which is a pretty cool setting. Redheadedgirl read this one and gave it a B:

    TL;DR: NEEDS MORE GROVEL.

There really wasn’t a moment like that, and that was frustrating. That was VERY frustrating. So I have to knock this down to a B. All that said, the story made me care about the kind of people who I detest in real life, and I love the setting very much. The next book is Elizabeth’s brother’s book, and I kind of can’t wait to see what makes him turn into a good person.

New York City’s Gilded Age shimmers with unimaginable wealth and glittering power. The men of the Knickerbocker Club know this more than anyone else. But for one millionaire, the business of love is not what he expected…

Born in the slums of Five Points, Emmett Cavanaugh climbed his way to the top of a booming steel empire and now holds court in an opulent Fifth Avenue mansion. His rise in stations, however, has done little to elevate his taste in women. He loathes the city’s “high society” types, but a rebellious and beautiful blue-blood just might change all that.

Elizabeth Sloane’s mind is filled with more than the latest parlor room gossip. Lizzie can play the Stock Exchange as deftly as New York’s most accomplished brokers—but she needs a man to put her skills to use. Emmett reluctantly agrees when the stunning socialite asks him to back her trades and split the profits. But love and business make strange bedfellows, and as their fragile partnership begins to crack, they’ll discover a passion more frenzied than the trading room floor…

  • The Rogue

    The Rogue by Katharine Ashe

The Rogue by Katharine Ashe is $1.99 at select vendors! This is a first book in a new historical romance series that seems to have a lot of catnip: a second chance romance, a scarred hero, and a marriage of convenience. Trigger warning: Some reviewers warn that there is rape and torture as part of the heroine’s backstory. There are also several other Ashe titles also on sale!

Lady Constance Read is independent, beautiful, and in need of a husband—now. The last man on earth she wants is the rogue who broke her heart six years ago, never mind that his kisses are scorching hot…

Evan Saint-André Sterling is rich, scarred, and finished with women—forever. He’s not about to lose his head over the bewitching beauty who once turned his life upside down.

But Constance needs a warrior, and Saint is the perfect man for the job. Only as a married woman can she penetrate Scotland’s most notorious secret society and bring a diabolical duke to justice. When Constance and Saint become allies—and passionate lovers—he’ll risk everything to protect the only woman he has ever loved.

The Rule Book by Jennifer Blackwood is .99 at Amazon and itunes today. It got good reviews so I snapped it up.

Feel the Burn (Dragon Kin #8) by G.A. Aiken is $ 1.99 at amazon and kobo

  3. Meg says:

I’m sorry, I can’t hear you over how fast I’m running to buy “Fortune Favors the Wicked.”

  4. Todd says:

I got The Unleashing – based on recommendations here – and liked it well enough. I found it reminded me a little of Kresley Cole’s Immortals After Dark series (the smart-ass women, thoroughly a part of the modern world). I didn’t enjoy it enough to read more of the series, though.

  5. Kate says:

Flowers From the Storm by Laura Kinsale is $1.99 on Kindle right now. I wish-listed the book ages ago based on a rec here.

Liora Blake’s True Divide has dropped to $2.99 on Kindle.

  6. Mara says:

Today was a great day for deals in my inbox– lots of eReader IQ alerts! “Geekomancy” by Michael Underwood is $.99 on Amazon for fellow UF lovers, and it’s one I’ve heard some good buzz about in the past. I picked up the Teresa Romain (yay!) for $1.99. There’s a free Noelle Adams, whose novellas I really like (“One Week with Her Rival”), as well as one for $.99 (“One Week with Her Ex-Stepbrother”). And “True North” by Liora Blake is $.99– I had the second in the series, so happy to pick up the first one on the cheap!

*lowers voice to whisper* I really like Kresley Cole type books, but “The Unleashing” was just meh to me. Which is so sad, because I was hoping to find a new series.

  7. Ele says:

I liked The Unleashing and really loved The Undoing. This series avoids the sameness of so many of the shifter-type romance books. And it has seriously kick-ass heroines. I paid full price for The Undoing when I saw that it featured a romance between two of my favorite minor characters from the first book. Much fun if you are tired of all those near-feral werewolf and tiger-shifters, and are in the mood for a nice librarian owl-shifter!
