  • Passenger

    Passenger by Alexandra Bracken

RECOMMENDED: Passenger by Alexandra Bracken is $3.99! This is a time travel, YA romance and Elyse loved it. She gave it an A grade, but warns of a big cliffhanger:

I loved this book. I loved it so hard my teeth hurt. I could have used a little more historical detail in Cambodia and Damascus (Paris is kind of a pass-through), but so much action was happening there wasn’t a ton of time for it. Part of the reason this book is so unputdownable is that it never stops for the reader to catch her breath. Once Nick and Etta’s quest gets rolling, it’s a great big chase scene throughout history will no pauses.

    passage, n.
    i. A brief section of music composed of a series of notes and flourishes.
ii. A journey by water; a voyage.
iii. The transition from one place to another, across space and time.

In one devastating night, violin prodigy Etta Spencer loses everything she knows and loves. Thrust into an unfamiliar world by a stranger with a dangerous agenda, Etta is certain of only one thing: she has traveled not just miles but years from home. And she’s inherited a legacy she knows nothing about from a family whose existence she’s never heard of. Until now.

Nicholas Carter is content with his life at sea, free from the Ironwoods—a powerful family in the colonies—and the servitude he’s known at their hands. But with the arrival of an unusual passenger on his ship comes the insistent pull of the past that he can’t escape and the family that won’t let him go so easily. Now the Ironwoods are searching for a stolen object of untold value, one they believe only Etta, Nicholas’ passenger, can find. In order to protect her, he must ensure she brings it back to them— whether she wants to or not.

Together, Etta and Nicholas embark on a perilous journey across centuries and continents, piecing together clues left behind by the traveler who will do anything to keep the object out of the Ironwoods’ grasp. But as they get closer to the truth of their search, and the deadly game the Ironwoods are playing, treacherous forces threaten to separate Etta not only from Nicholas but from her path home . . . forever

  • Everything I Left Unsaid

    Everything I Left Unsaid by M O'Keefe

RECOMMENDED: Everything I Left Unsaid by M. O’Keefe is 99c at most vendors! And yes, M. O’Keefe is Molly O’Keefe! This book has popped up in the comments. Be warned that this is a rather dark romance and does have a cliffhanger, but many say this is a romance that will grab you and before you know it, the sun is coming up.

Fans of Jodi Ellen Malpas, K. Bromberg, and Joanna Wylde will be unable to resist this sexy, deeply intimate tale of a woman running from her past, and the darkly mysterious man who sets her free.

I didn’t think answering someone else’s cellphone would change my life. But the stranger with the low, deep voice on the other end of the line tempted me, awakened my body, set me on fire. He was looking for someone else. Instead he found me.

And I found a hot, secret world where I felt alive for the first time.

His name was Dylan, and, strangely, he made me feel safe. Desired. Compelled. Every dark thing he asked me to do, I did. Without question. I longed to meet him, but we were both keeping secrets. And mine were dangerous. If I took the first step, if I got closer to Dylan—emotionally, physically—then I wouldn’t be hiding anymore. I would be exposed, with nothing left to surrender but the truth. And my truth could hurt us both.

  • My Happy Days in Hollywood

My Happy Days in Hollywood by Garry Marshall

My Happy Days in Hollywood by Garry Marshall is $1.99! If you hadn’t heard, Garry Marshall passed away last week. He was the creator of the TV show, Happy Days, as well as the director of numerous movies such as Pretty WomanThe Princess Diaries, and Beaches. Readers on Goodreads describe the memoir as delightful and upbeat, but say this is definitely something that you’d probably only read once.

With the television hits The Odd Couple, Happy Days, Laverne & Shirley, and Mork & Mindy, and movies like The Flamingo Kid, Beaches, Pretty Woman, and The Princess Diaries under his belt, Garry Marshall has been among the most successful writers, directors, and producers in America for more than five decades. His work on the small and big screen has delighted audiences for the last three decades and has withstood the test of time.

In My Happy Days in Hollywood, Marshall takes us on a journey from his stickball-playing days in the Bronx to his time at the helm of some of the most popular television series and movies of all time, sharing the joys and challenges of working with the Fonz and the young Julia Roberts, the “street performer” Robin Williams, and the young Anne Hathaway, among many others. This honest, vibrant, and often hilarious memoir reveals a man whose career has been defined by his drive to make people laugh and whose personal philosophy—despite his tremendous achievements—has always been that life is more important than show business.

  1. Everything I Left Unsaid is wonderful. Definitely recommend. Annie and Dylan’s romance arc finishes in the sequel, The Truth About Him.

  2. Demi says:

OK, the woman on the “No Regrets” cover looks like she may regret something she ate…gas?

  3. Kate Y says:

@ Laura – Thanks for telling us that Annie and Dylan’s romance arc finishes with the sequel! This makes it much more likely I’ll read it. I love Molly O’Keefe’s books, but I haven’t read this yet because I’m not that big on the first person p.o.v. and cliffhanger thing new adult books seem to love.

Now I have to glare at B&N and hope they price match!

  4. Marci says:

The Devil in Winter by Lisa Kleypas is $1.99 on Amazon and Kobo.

  5. Sarah Y. says:

I just bought Everything I Left Unsaid and while I am enjoying the plot so far, the writing style is kind of jarring as it switches between first narrative (Annie) and third narrative (Dylan).

  6. SeventhWave says:

Marci @4, THANK YOU!! This is one of my favorites and I have no idea how I didn’t already own it – I guess I’ve just been checking it out from the library repeatedly.
