  • A Gentleman’s Game

A Gentleman’s Game by Theresa Romain

RECOMMENDED: A Gentleman’s Game by Theresa Romain is 99c! Redheadedgirl read this historical romance and gave it an A:

Theresa Romain basically created a series just for me, and the first full-length book just confirms it. She reached into my head and found the references and plot that would make me happiest, and gave those thoughts a beautiful cover and said, “Here!”

In Book One of Romance of the Turf, a refreshing new Regency series from rising star Theresa Romain, a mystery demanding to be solved brings unlikely allies together in more ways than one

How far will a man go

Talented but troubled, the Chandler family seems cursed by bad luck-and so Nathaniel Chandler has learned to trade on his charm. He can broker a deal with anyone from a turf-mad English noble to an Irish horse breeder. But Nathaniel’s skills are tested when his stable of trained Thoroughbreds become suspiciously ill just before the Epsom Derby, and he begins to suspect his father’s new secretary is not as innocent as she seems.

To win a woman’s secretive heart?

Nathaniel would be very surprised if he knew why Rosalind Agate was really helping his family in their quest for a Derby victory. But for the sake of both their livelihoods, Rosalind and Nathaniel must set aside their suspicions. As Derby Day draws near, her wit and his charm make for a successful investigative team…and light the fires of growing desire. But Rosalind’s life is built on secrets and Nathaniel’s on charisma, and neither defense will serve them once they lose their hearts…

  • This Crumbling Pageant

This Crumbling Pageant by Patricia Burroughs

READER RECOMMENDATION: This Crumbling Pageant by Patricia Burroughs is 99c at Amazon! This is a fantasy romance set in historical England. A reader sent us a glowing recommendation of the book:

One of the very best books I’ve read in a while is on sale for a ridiculous ninety-nine cents for Kindle. I can’t understand it because it is worth so very much more. It is volume one in a trilogy and I pray this silly price means volume two is on its way because I would pay full price for volume two because volume one was that good. I believe I gave it a four star review.

Persephone Fury is the Dark daughter, the one they hide.

England, 1811. Few are aware of a hidden magical England, a people not ruled by poor mad George, but by the dying King Pellinore of the House of Pendragon.

The Furys are known for their music, their magic, and their historic role as kingmakers. When Fury ambitions demand a political marriage, Persephone is drugged and presented to Society—

Only to be abducted from the man she loves by the man she loathes.

But devious and ruthless, Persephone must defy ancient prophecy and seize her own fate.

Get swept away into the first book of a dark fantasy series combining swashbuckling adventure, heart-pounding romance, and plot-twisting suspense.

  • Serving Trouble

Serving Trouble by Sara Jane Stone

Serving Trouble by Sara Jane Stone is 99c! This is a contemporary romance and boy, is it packed with catnip. One night stand, second chance romance, and the heroine is the sister of the hero’s best friend. While readers loved how the characters progressed and grew throughout the book, some expressed wanting to shake the hero at times. Have you read this one?

Five years ago, Josie Fairmore left timber country in search of a bright future. Now she’s back home with a mountain of debt and reeling from a loss that haunts her. Desperate for a job, she turns to the one man she wishes she could avoid. The man who rocked her world one wild night and then walked right out of it.

The members of his small town think he’s a war hero, but after everything he’s witnessed, Noah doesn’t want a pat on the back. The only thing he desires is a second chance with his best friend’s little sister.

Josie’s determined to hold onto her heart and not repeat her mistakes, but when danger arrives on Noah’s doorstep and takes aim at Josie, they just might discover that sometimes love is worth the risk.

  • Prudence

    Prudence by Gail Carriger

Prudence by Gail Carriger is $2.99! This is the first book in her Custard Protocol series and Carrie gave it a B-:

The best and worst thing I could say about this series is that it’s very much like Carriger’s other series. It’s the worst thing in that there’s not a lot new in here except that it seems to be a series that gets us out of alternate universe England and into the rest of Empire. It’s the best thing because honestly Carriger’s world and style are just pure yummy candy. If you give me a five pound bag of M&M’s, it’s not like I’m going to get to the bottom and say, “Gosh darn it, this is still M&M’s!”

ON BEHALF OF QUEEN, COUNTRY…AND THE PERFECT POT OF TEA.

When Prudence Alessandra Maccon Akeldama (Rue to her friends) is given an unexpected dirigible, she does what any sensible female would under similar circumstances — names it the Spotted Custard and floats to India in pursuit of the perfect cup of tea. But India has more than just tea on offer. Rue stumbles upon a plot involving local dissidents, a kidnapped brigadier’s wife, and some awfully familiar Scottish werewolves. Faced with a dire crisis and an embarrassing lack of bloomers, what else is a young lady of good breeding to do but turn metanatural and find out everyone’s secrets, even thousand-year-old fuzzy ones?

This Crumbling Pageant is a personal favorite.

And you can never go wrong with Theresa Romain!

  2. Kat says:

A heads up to anyone with Kobo – the Serving Trouble book appears on their website as $.99, but I was charged $2.99. Customer service told me that it was showing as $2.99 on their end. They credited me for the $2, but that may be a deal breaker for some people and was a bit annoying to get corrected.

  3. Kareni says:

I also enjoyed This Crumbling Pageant and look forward to a sequel.

  4. ClaireC says:

Yessssss! One-clicked the Theresa Romain so fast!

  5. Lora says:

Now i want to read Crumbling pageant. I’d like to read the new Carriger but I feel like I’d have to finish the parasol protectorate first and I crapped out on it two books ago. I love the style but the characters eventually wore thing…and I have ZERO patience for keeping track of multiple characters. I’m lazy that way.

  6. I love Theresa Romain. I clicked so fast you wouldn’t believe it!
