Cover Snark: NSFW Egg Smuggling, Lightning, & Sketchy Ravens

Be warned that the last cover is very Not Safe For Work, so if your boss is around, just time your scrolling appropriately.

The Call of the Raven by Amanda Balfour. A hero in a kilt, holding a very frightened heroine, as ravens circle in the sky. I promise this is a romance and not a horror novel.

Sarah: Everything about the composition of this photograph points at his pec for me.

Which is a trapezoid?

Amanda: But like…what if those aren’t ravens and something is dead? I want to tell the heroine in that glorified snuggie to GTFO.

Elyse: He’s shooting those ravens some serious side eye too.

Brothers and Bones by James Hankins. Features a very creepy and foggy alleyway.

Sarah: Tell me that I’m not the only one who read “Brothers and Boners” please.

Redheadedgirl: No….I didn’t read that, but my mind went to the same place.

What kind of brothers are these?

Amanda: Boner brothers.

High Energy by Dara Joy. A very long-haired gentleman in dark sunglasses in a tight, ill-fitting muscle tee. The background is bright pink with so much lightning that we'll all worried for his safety.

Redheadedgirl: Uh

Elyse: Holy 1991 Batman

Redheadedgirl: What kind of conditioner does he use that he has no static in a lightning storm?

Amanda: Mane & Tail, obvs.

Redheadedgirl: Obvs

Elyse: That’s some pink lightning.

Which Flash character is that?

Sarah: Oh, no.

Oh, Dara Joy.

Easter Invasion: BDSM Voyages Book Two by A.J. Llewellyn and D.J. Manly. A man's chest in shimmery gold harness and codpiece. The title is written in purpose script.

Sarah: I KNOW WHERE HE HID THE EGGS! I KNOW I KNOW!

Amanda: “BDSM Voyages” – Is this some kind of specialty cruise line?

Call of the Raven: I think the heroine is controlling those ravens, probably because she couldn’t get flying monkeys.

Brothers and Bones: I only see one brother, but I DO see the boner you’re talking about. Look at the cloud on the left, right at the top of the bridge.

  2. Heather T says:

That Raven guy has a big rod right here for you ladies. Obvious much?

  3. Lostshadows says:

Am I actually the only one perplexed by the first guy’s hair? It looks like the singer from Flock of Seagulls idea of casually messy.

  4. Lora says:

I thought the hair in book one was the result of some strong winds, possibly from the beating wings of those freaky ass birds. I would NOT be clutching is bare moobs, I would be hiding from the ravens who were obviously building a nest in his hair.

  5. EC Spurlock says:

Sarah’s comment about that last cover gave me a much-needed snort-laugh.

And the first thing Call of the Ravens made me think of was this old billboard: https://www.flickr.com/photos/logchain/4860839622

  6. bookworm1990 says:

I love the name “D.J. Manly”

  7. Janet says:

I’d go on a voyage like that if they included the easter egg hunt.

  8. Mary says:

That Dara joy series is just cracktastic btw

  9. carolinareader says:

I did enjoy High Energy and the book that came after but Dara Joy’s new or changed book covers are something else

  10. Cynthia says:

The cover model for Dara Joy’s book, reminds me of Lorenzo Lamas when he was doing that tv show Renegade.

  11. Cake says:

The Dara Joy cover looks like someone ironed the wrinkles out of Dog the bounty hunter.
