Sustained by Emma Chase is 99c! The description of this book always makes me smile, and I’m tempted to liken this to a fairy tale romance. The hero swears up and down that he’s no Prince Charming, yet he still helps out the heroine and her gaggle of nieces and nephews. The book is well-reviewed on Goodreads with a 4.3-star rating. However, be warned, the book is told from the hero’s POV, which I know isn’t for everyone. Thanks to Reader Ashley for the heads up!

When Summer Comes by Brenda Novak is 99c! This is a small town contemporary romance. Readers felt the story and the heroine’s struggles to be emotional and tender. But some disliked the hero’s hot and cold behavior. Have you read this one?

Dirty Past
Dirty Past by Emma Hart is 99c! This is a new adult contemporary romance with a rockstar hero. It’s also (technically) a workplace romance since the heroine is a personal assistant for the hero’s band. I will add a trigger warning because there does seem to be mention of trauma/abuse in the plot description. Readers loved the heroine’s emotional journey, but felt the ending was a little rushed. It has a 4.1-star rating on Godreads.

Denial
Denial by Lisa Renee Jones is $1.99! This is a contemporary romance with some darker, suspenseful elements. The description is pretty vague, so here’s what I’ve gleaned from Goodreads. The heroine has amnesia. The hero is part of some underground group that isn’t quite a criminal organization. There’s some Beauty & the Beast elements. And there’s a cliffhanger. It has a 4.2-star rating on Goodreads.
Ella Ferguson awakes alone in Italy, unsure of who she is, and a gorgeous man has claimed her as his own. He’s tall, dark, and sexy, with money and power, the kind of man who makes a girl want to be possessed. Be warned that the hero is definitely an alpha hero, which some found way too intense and overbearing for their liking, while others enjoyed it. What’s your alpha tolerance? Any takers?

I posted this on yesterday’s deals, but it’s worth mentioning again.
Tigers & Devils by Sean Kennedy is .99 at Amazon and ARe. This is a fun mm contemporary set in Australia with a jock / hipster nerd pairing and completely fade to black sex scenes but good sexual tension.
Read the sample – it’s in first person and the narrator is someone you either love or you don’t – I liked his snarky, self-deprecating voice but ymmv.
I don’t mind when books are from the hero’s POV, as long as they’re not written in some kind of painful “dude patois” that works essentially by dropping in every possible slang term for woman, vagina, and penis while overplaying Men Are From Mars-level masculinity.
Which… is most of them, I feel.

Am I the only one who read the title of “Dirty Past” as Dirty PART? Is it the font or is it me? Please blame the font for me.
In other reading news, and guaranteed to have dirty parts (har), the 3rd book in the Royal Romance series is out *finally*. The first book hooked me–a Kentucky girl at a Scottish castle for her sister’s wedding, hooks up with a prince. The second was total catnip for me (scruffy sexy environmentalist/boy next door). This one promises to be about a daredevil bad-boy pilot who is also a prince.

Loved Sustained in audio format and was lucky enough to meet Emma Chase at the RT convention in Vegas. The entire legal briefs series is a hoot.
I like the whole Legal Briefs series by Emma Chase, but Sustained is by far my favorite. Heads up, this is book two of a three part series and there is a post-script novella, Sidebarred, that just came out featuring the Jake and Chelsea from Sustained. If you like Sustained, I’d recommend Sidebarred too.
Sustained was my favorite book last year. I highly recommend it. The whole series is cute, but Sustained is hilariously funny and charming. It’s a terrific novel.
